two 3ohm DVC'S

Post by oldskoolmseriesfan »

This part of car audio has always been problematic for me.
This has probably been posted b4 but couldnt find it.
So here we go.. Ive got 2 three ohm DVC subs wired in series/parrellel, into a 250x1 at 4ohms monoblock amp with this configuration what impedance and wattage am I running at? If you guys could dumb down the math for me and explain it to me properly that would be sweet. I really hate not knowing this.

2x3 ohm dvc sub wired in series = 6 ohms
two 6 ohm subs wired in parallel = 3 ohms

Total wattage, assuming the amp can handle it, would be 375 watts (250 + 125). Every time you cut impedance in half, the amp tries to produce double the power... so 250w@4 ohms => 500w@2 ohms. But 3 ohms isn't half, it's half of half, so you add 125 :)

Well, if you like them, that's what matters. But you can swing both RSd and RSdC's for less than $225/each. You can probably get the RSd for about $50-$75/each and the RSdC for about $150/each on eBay.

In a month or two, I'll be selling my RSd12D4 subs I believe, as I'm upgrading to the RSdCs. Just gotta wait for Tom to bring me my box on Dec 5 and for PG to get another RSdC in so Harold can ship it off to me.

Ultimate is ok for entry level Canadian market stuff. I moved up to their gear with my first install, replacing $10 paper whizzer cone Pioneer speakers with their 6x9's.

Yeah all the other lines r garbage. Ive got a monoblock T3amp and a T3 2channel stereo running my Focals. The subs are really nice in ported , but sealed they have great low bass extension from 60hz dwn, 60hz and up on the other hand ....    . The subs I have r the T3DVC 12's those r the white coned subs in the orange car. The amps r ok but lack power, the 2 channel at a 2ohm stereo load, fukn blows goats. I am definatel missing the pg power. I do have the M25 wich I just picked up and an MX2 wich I got 2day for 20 bones :D Ive also got the Audison wich I believe Im going to use 4 the front stage and the M25 for the subs. I think that should b a nice SQ system for now. I would love to get rid of the subs and get some rsdc's. From what u guys say they fukn rock. I would really like to give them a listen first b4 making my decision. The 12s I have now is the only piece of equipment Ive bvought with out a listen. Live and learn eh.
I had 12inch JBLGT's, JLW1's, and Kicker XPL's in my time and they all stomped on these :x
FUZZY were close enough to each other we could maybe meet up have some beers and give me a listen to the rsd's and i could also  over ur install :) then maybe i could go from there. moneys a little tight right now but if I unload all the Ultimate gear i could make something happen
