Anyone can tell me what amp is much better in RMS. It looks as if maybe the tantrum is not pushing enuff watts.

I am currently running a single JL 13.5/W-7 off of the tantrum 1200 amp. BUt it seems like its maybe not stable at 3 ohms. As when i slam it hard my fuse (80) thats connected to my battery pops. (4 gauge from the battery straight to the amp) The Jl is in its prowedge sealed box.

Ive heard of people on this site going to 2 ohms off the tantrum but not 3 ohms.

Im wondering maybe i should trade my tantrum for ther JL 1000v2 amp any suggestions comments ....?

Is anyone running a JL-W-7 off this amp?.

dude...the tantrum is a monster. i have never seen one birth below 1400 @ 4ohms....

3 ohms would be perfect for it. 2 i dont really like to do

I'd take the Tantrum. Your fuse blowing problem is solvable. You just need to systematically eliminate possibilities and apply some critical thinking.

If you have any questions, just ask! There are very knowledgeable people here ;)

Im just wondering if my tripath chip is faulty? Does anyone know if my tripath chip is done?. Will the amp still work if the chip is damaged? I think im going to upgrade my power wire to 0/1 .

Step 1: Turn off bass boost...
Step 2: http://phoenixphorum.com/gain-setting-w ... vt280.html
Step 3: Do a barrel roll.

1200.1 will blow 80 amp fuses at high volume.

Go with a 100 or even 200 amp fuse. That fuse is not going to protect the amp anyway, its will only protect your car if that wire is ever shorted.

But the manual states not to go higher than an 80. Wouldnt I damage the amp?. Should I first change my power wire to 0/1. first? To see if it fixes my problem.? The change to higher fuse.

Higher rated fuses wont hurt anything.. Hell, put a 300amp fuse on if you want.

you might want to send it in for repair if you feel it's not living up to its potential. all i know is after getting my tantrum 1200 back from PG and running it to 2 RSDC 12 subs, it's disturbing.

Did you turn off bass boost yet?

All it does is add distortion, and bias towards a single note. Keeping your bass boost off will make any amp work much better.

No preemptive barrel rolls allowed?

No, but handstands are certainly possible
