Zx450 ZX250 running active.
Hello all. New on the forum and looking for advice.
I would like to know if it is possible to run active with these 2 amps using the on board cross overs. I will be running PG Ti6 elite comps.
Thanks in advance. Craig

Welcome to the phorum!
The Zx250 should not be necessary. The Zx450's crossover should be flexible enough to handle a 2 way active setup. The front crossover is adjustable from 600Hz-6kHz and the rear is 30Hz-600Hz if memory serves.
I am sure someone else will be able to give you more detail, and some suggested xover points, as I don't have any experience with the Ti components, but all of the user manuals are available for download courtesy of this forum. You can find them in the sticky thread at the top of this section.
Good luck,
Jason

does the zx250 have a multiplier by 10 button, if it does not, then youll need the front of zx450 for ur tweets(b/c it has the multiplier by 10 switch there, look under car audio, and at the begining stipud mirrored all the pg manuels-

i just looked at it under the manuels, i think the only way ud be able to use the zx250 for ur tweets, would be to bypass the internal xover; ud need an external signal sending a freq. between 3.2khz-3.5khz to them that way; zx250 does not have a multiplier switch like ur four channel(zx450) does- if theres a way 2 send the hpmultiplier signal to ur zx250,from zx450, cuz ur 6.5s will be in bandpass-right?, itd work, not 100 percent u can do that??? others may chime in, im sure

A bit unorthadoxed but in theory it will work. Run chs 1/2 (stereo) of the 450 to the tweets, chs 3/4 bridged to one mid and then bridge the 250 to the other mid.
By spec the the 250 is half a 450.
Use a DMM to set those gains right for the rear chs of the 450 and the 250. Not paramount, but for balanced output reasons.

i think ur gonna need the zx450 for the tweets and one set of mid 6.5s; ive looked at the owners manuel to see if u could send the hp multiplied by 10 signal to the zx250, but dont think u can- i think u send the tweets the hp ,multiply by 10 button pushed to the tweets(look @ the manuel for frequency setting, it can be deciving where ur xover point is on the zx b/c its not fully round),-from the zx450 fronts , and front amp source bypass, rear source bypass; front mode norml, hooking the tweets upto the 2 front chanels, and the rear chanels for the first(assuming front) set of ti6.5, then use the zx250 internal xover for other set of 6.5, mid only for 2nd set-right?, not a second set of tweets? this is what id try first and listen; i agree in theory, the zx250 for the tweets, but only if u run them with their passive xover, or using an external xover-its ashame the 2 chanels didnt have the muliplier frequency switch, otherwise u could do it no problem-once again, this is my opinion, what matters to you is what sounds good to you-at least this way u can send the tweets and the front mids all the right frequencies from within-

wait a minute DO NOT BYPASS , sorry, ud only do that, bypass, if u had an external xover, , u can, however, if ur using the zx450 internal crossover, set the rear source to front, that way u only need one set of rcas coming into the front input-

All you will need is your ZX450. There is no good way to integrate the ZX250 into this, beyond using it as a sub amp. Neither of the above suggestions will work without an external crossover.
Run your RCA into the front inputs. Now set the following:
R. FEED BYPASS - XOVER
F. AMP SOURCE - XOVER
FRONT MODE - NORM
F. XVR FREQ - 320Hz
FREQ MULT - X10 (this sets your crossover frequency at 3200Hz)
BASS - 0
SENS - http://phoenixphorum.com/gain-setting-w ... vt280.html
R. AMP SOURCE - XOVER
XOVER SELECT - HP/LP
R. XVR FREQ - 60-80Hz, or wherever you want your sub crossed at
REAR SOURCE - FRONT
BASS - 0
SENS - http://phoenixphorum.com/gain-setting-w ... vt280.html
Do not use the rear input jack. Hook your tweeters to the front, and your mids to the rear. Now if you want, you can also run the EXTERNAL OUTPUT to your sub amp, since it will be the remainder lowpass frequencies (under where you set the R. XVR FREQ). Then just bypass the sub amp crossovers. You can plug the LPL in the ZX450, and it will reduce the volume out the external output, and allow you to control your sub volume. Cool eh? So with one RCA you've got active components and a sub

Things have changed quite a bit now.hahah (car audio is great).
Bought a pair of Ti9m for midbass duties. So will be running 450 bridged to the front using the passive x-overs, and when i can find 1 another 450 for the midbass.

You can still run your set active, with the ZX250 powering the midbass...
In that case you would set the R. XVR FREQ on the ZX450 to be ~150Hz (highpass for 9's). Then run an RCA to the ZX250, and set it to HP at 50Hz for the 9's. You can run the aux-out from there to your sub amp.
And of course the ZX250 can be replaced by a ZX450 if you want more power to midbass. I find with equal power given to the 9M's, it will be just as loud as the comp set through the passive. However, since you would be running the comps active, they will be louder, and so the 9M's could benefit from more power.
