i'm at work so ms paint is all i could do to show how i wired my subs.
that's how i have my subs wired but i have to turn the sensitivity and bass boost all the way up to get any real output. my head unit puts out 2.5v.
the xenon manual says that the outputs are wired parallel. so is my final load 4ohms?
also, my hu can be turned up to 40 but anything turned past 15 is almost too loud. is it the hu? should i get a line driver?
any tips or questions on more info shoot em my way please.
Looks like you have your subs running a 8 ohm load and your running them in stereo mode. There for each sub is only getting around 75 watts per coil and is way underpowered. You need to wire them up bridged so the amp see a 4ohm load and get the most out of your amp. Check this link out and it will help you wire everthing up right.
i thought i had them wired as shown in option two of that page.
since the voice coils are wired in series and the speakers are then wired parallel inside of the amp. so i should move both negatives to the far right terminal and both positives to the far left terminal?
i'll double check and make sure they're turned down, same with the bass boost and the head unit zeroed.
thanks for your help.
this install is totally temporay, wires flying everywhere but no crossing signal and power. and a prefab box(yikes) until i make my amp rack and new box. i'm just too impatient.
i say double check ur sub coils for wiring(manuel); i did this once with a set of diamond audio subs; i wired the coils to where my amp was seeing a 8 ohm load-but, im not very familiar with the xenon series of amps, or idq subs--
as she walked out the door she expressed, 'enjoy your amp addiction'
I'm with Christian double check your wiring first. Are you running these bridged L+ and R- ? Or are you useing both channel in stereo? What size enclosure are you useing?
Um, the amp is a x600.1, according to his pic, that means it is mono, and tying the two +'s and two -'s together at the amp did absolutely nothing. You can't bridge an amp that is already bridged, or a true monoblock. If it is really wired as in the picture, he IS presenting the amp with a 4ohm load. It is basically two 8 ohm drivers in parallel.
What does, "but anything turned past 15 is almost too loud." mean? The subs are to loud, the over all volume is to loud? Are you running a seperate amp for mids and highs? If you are, then their gains need turned down if you want to use more of your HU's volume range. If you are using the HU's internal amp, then you are screwed, there is not going to be a way to adjust it's internal amp seperate of the volume.
A line driver would probably be of great benefit to you. From what I understand, the xenons like input voltage. A HU with 2.5V output probably realistically puts out around 1V RMS.
Also, if you haven't done so, read the threads about setting your gains with a DMM, at least you can measure and find out what kind of power the amp is putting out. It may be making it's full rated power, and the subs simply are being under driven.

Jason

Not if you wired them correctly, but if you have one out of phase with the other(wiring reversed), then yes, you should hear almost no bass output, but they should be moving like gangbusters.

anything turned past 15 means that, my 6.5s and 6x9s are powered by the headunit and turning it up past 15 starts to distort. so no mid range/high amplifier.
the subs are 250w rms, so i should be over powering them a little bit.

you do^ they are all the same. the earlier runs had a more generic birthsheet from the build house. the 800+ ones were done by PG. there is no parts change or anything, all are the same.
