I'm looking to get an inexpensive, portable oscilloscope. I am looking at hand-held units so that I can more easily use it for setting gains and such out in the car, in addition to using it for bench-testing. Does anyone have any experience with the Velleman units? http://www.vellemanusa.com/us/enu/produ ... ?id=351263 They are pretty reasonably priced and look like they will suit my needs. They don't have a huge feature set, and I don't expect they are exceedingly accurate or anything, but I think it'll do what I need. Anyone have anything to say about their functionality and/or reliability? Or have any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Brad

How much does it cost? I don't see it on the website. The bandwidth is lower than I would like in a scope, and the fact that it is a digital based scope is another ding in my book. Digital scopes are great for looking at digital signals, but it takes a lot of money in a digital scope to get one that will do well w/ analog signals. You can find more in depth info about it on line. It will probably be fine for the kind of work you mention in your post, but I wouldn't want to have to have it double as my bench scope.

The unit I linked can be had for around $135 shipped. I think I'll look a little more closely at some of the USB units out there as well. They could represent a good value, offloading processing onto the laptop.
