Hi
Need some help with a sub/amp configuration. I have 2 orion HCCA 12's. Both have 2 ohm dual voice coils. I also have 2 PG V8001 class D mono amps. What is the best way to wire this to get the most sound. Before I had just one V8001 for the 2 subs. I should be better off with 2 ? Please help. Wojtek

Hi, welcome to the Phorum. I'm not real familiar with those amps, but according to the manual the lowest load recommended is 2 ohm. With dual 2 ohm voice coils you can wire the subs to a final 1 or 4 ohm load.

I would recomend wiring them in series to a final 4 ohm load, and using one amp per sub. That will give you a solid 600 watts per sub and won't work the amps or your electrical system near as hard as wiring them to 1 ohm.

Each subs' 2ohm coils will need to be 'series wired' to 4ohm. Then wired to each amp. Unfortunately, the minimum impedance for those amps is 2ohm. If you 'parallel wire' the 2ohm coils it will drop the impedance of the sub to 1ohm. And the amp won't like that very much.

At 4ohms each amp will be doing 600 watts.

Im running one in my friend 1994 bmw 318i 10" running 500watts sound great!!!

With the subs and amps that I have, am I better off, running 1 amp for both the subs, I believe that this will allow me to run each sub at 1ohm and when paired with the other sub give the amp a 2 ohm loud which in turn will result in more power. Just kinda sucks I'll end up with 1 amp which I'll have no use for. Thanks is advance for Your help.

I used to play those 1999 HCCA15D with one MS2125 @ 4Ohms! Got me 142.6dB out of them! Each of them HCCA15D`s where mounted in a 40l sealed enclosure!

With one amp at 2 ohm you will have 800 watts divided to the 2 subs. With both amps you will have 600 watts to each. Honestly you probably won't hear the difference, but if you already have both amps why not use them.
