Just curious as to what would be needed if I decided to run
my comps active...

Another x200.4?
How many channnels for the crossover?
1 big x-over or 2 small ones?
Does PG have a eq/crossover that can do this job?
Or other brand?

Two sets active?

Remind me what kind of car you are putting all of this gear in. Typically running active is reserved for front speakers. Rear fill in small cars only makes things worse, and in big cars a set of mids or coaxials off of deck power is more than enough.

Ah that makes sense then. Regardless, you won't gain anything by making the second set active... leave that to your front speakers. Just give the rear fill deck power, or at most a comp set off of an X100.2.

What crossover should I use for the front comps?

What's your headunit? Many mid to high end headunits have 3-way crossovers in them already.

Havent purchased yet but Im leaning in this direction.

What the heck? Some no-name brand?

I would suggest spending money there and getting a decent headunit from a reputable manufacturer instead of worrying about running active.

I really havent been looking at HU's I do have a re-q5 just incase I
get inpatient and want to install everything before I decide on a HU.

Plus I would like to know how to go about doing it if I decided to
go active.

I don't know much about the double-din nav market, but I am sure there are a couple choices out there which have 3-way crossovers. If not an MX2i or AX206 should be all you need.

I like the built in nav and the sirius tunner is inexpensive.

Looks like a nice unit. Has time alignment and 7 band parametric. The TA will really help with those rear speakers you intend to run. Set the rears with a little more delay (less distance if it uses that instead of ms) than the manual states for "proper" alignment, and it'll help make your brain think more of the sound is coming from in front than actually is. (well, maybe, it doesn't work in every circumstance, but is worth trying to help pull the sound stage forward) For crossovers, it just has a sub x-over, so you could let it handle that, grab an appropriate 2-way for the front, and run the rear with the passives I assume they'll come with. At least, that's how I'd do it. What do you have for amps? From what you said it sounds like you're using a 200.4. Run that active up front and use either deck power or something like a 100.2 for the rears. Depends on how much presence you want from the rear. I'd have the rear down at least 3db from the fronts though, hence the 100.2 suggestion. I don't really know much about PG crossovers though, so I can't make a specific recommendation. In general terms, you'll want a 2-way crossover, adjustable from say, 1000Hz to 5000Hz. That'd cover pretty much any mid/tweeter combination out there with enough room to be able to tune the crossover point to what sounds best to you.

As a side note, if you really want to run your rears active, get a 100.4 and a second 2-way x-over.

Eclipse is definitely one of the premier deck manufacturers out there. Night and day from the no-name stuff. Also, the avn5510 was just discontinued, so with a little luck you'll be able to find a sweet deal on one. If it has the feature set you require, go for it.

how far are u from sanford? if not too far, come by and i have 2 different types of headunits, one is actually a doubledin sony dvd(thats for my daughter's dvds when she rides with me-the audio sucks on that) the other h/u i use is the old skool sony cdx c90, not quit as nice as strokds Z-1, but still not a bad hu, seeing they usually sale for 4-500 on the bay, and they are 10-12 years old kg1961 has a nakamichi still, i think, ????
tht seems like a pretty decent unit from the specs, plus on his unit(if he still has) gives u the ability to change the h/u out voltage, upto 5volts-

Will the 406a that kg has do the job (active frnt and rear) or will I need both the 406a and 204a?

OK, the 406 is capable of handling front and rear active, but in that mode, it only accepts 1 pair of inputs, so you would lose any fader type ability, unless it is possible to rig up the 406 to control the rear channels with an LPL. I would not suggest this, as in so doing, you would be giving up some other features, such as having any kind of fader control, and more importantly, it would render the deck's time alignment feature useless. My advice would be to get a pair of 204s if you intend to run active front and rear. Trying to cram everything through a 406, while possible, will reduce your ability to tune the system.

As far as the DD HU part of this thread is concerned...
I have the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 like it alot, and have the lock out mod (ducati flasher) so just by turning on the car it sends a signal to headunit 6-econds from ignition, thus tricking it and putting it into what is caled marine mode so all lockouts are lifted. Nice for watching/listening to music videos in car.. which is primarily all i do.

but with that said I know the Denon Z1 is nice and the eclipse model that is comparable is also nice.
what gets me is the upgrade Navi disks from pioneer like 250.00 or so.. but you can always find them for cheaper.. but i havent upgraded since i got it, and I've been okay will all my deliveries so far...

Got another question-

If a HU only has 2 pre-outs front and rear.
Can I use 2 Y-cables to connect my x200.4 to the front pre-out?

And if I can then I will be able to connect my 2 x600.1(daisy chained) to the rear pre-out right?
