Imaging question

OK, I have something of a dilemma. I am trying to get better imaging out of my Jeep Wrangler, in conjunction with better midbass. Other than the sub, I am using stock locations. Here's the layout: In front, I was able to wrangle a set of RSD 5.25" components. They are at about gut level, and face slightly downward. I used the swivel mount to get the tweeters aimed more level, but that's about it. So already, we are starting off-axis for the fronts. The other thing about the fronts is that the only thing I could do to isolate the back-wave from the front is stuff some ploy-fill in there with them. So any hope of midbass from them is out. I have the factory sound bar, which provides for 5.25" woofers above and slightly behind. Not a good spot for imaging, but at least they have plenty of space to breathe, and it's sealed. Also, it would not be too difficult to wrangle some 6.5" in there. The sub is located all the way in back.

So, here's the thing, what are your opinions on putting dedicated midbass in the sound bar location? My worry is that since there is little midbass coming from the front, the midbass will end up imaging to the rear, and make things sound a little off. But, I just don't see any other way to get solid midbass, given the limitations. Thoughts?

Jeeps are tough. The sound bar isn't gonna net much midbass either. Also, having midbass behind you will destroy any real imaging possibilities.

You may want to consider small enclosures on the floor just in front of the seats. I've seen/heard this work fairly well as far as imaging and midbass go.

There is a good example of this somewhere here (install forum)... I just can't remember who's install it was. Maybe someone else remembers

you will definitely locate that rear midbass in your image. I have hear those sound bars, and they are so easy to hear. Personally, I dont use any fill in my car (except when I have people in the back). I think you may have to do something custom in the kicks. Isnt there enough room up there for it? You may end up with a lower soundstage, but i was surprised at how mine turned out (even with off axis mids)

Mine and Marko , we both have midbasses in the floor firing up.
