driver displacement for 12" rsd

Post by eyesofra »

hi guys,
does the sealed enclosure volume of 1.2cuft( as of the manual) or the much talked bout 1.8cuft includes the driver displacement for the 12" RSD ??
If not , how much volume must i calculate for the displacement ?

And do i need to add polyester/fibreglass material into the enclosure , have the 1.2cuft in mind?

Pls advice
thanks

The driver displacement for this RSD is ~0.2 cu.ft. The review that bdubs did, the box was 1.8 before displacement. So ~1.6 total.

hi ,
got a e-mail reply from PG tech ( Phil) regarding this.
He stated that the enclosure spec in the sub manual already includes driver displacement.

Although the sub sounds great in the recommended enclsure size, it sounds much much better in a 1.8 cu. ft. box.

BTW I wrote the manual and did the testing, yes the manual does include displacement in the specs however the 1.8 cuft total sealed enclosure sounds best.

hes running a octane-r 15.0:1...so we suggested a smaller box

i should have been more clear. when WE we suggesting the box, i meant 1.2 AFTER driver displacement...so ~1.3ish

yep, it was that review that amounted to the RSD12 being ranked third overall last year in subs. the rediculous thing was that the rsd was about a quarter of the cost of second place and about a tenth of the cost of the 1st place critical mass sub.

hi guys,
i ordered an enclosure at around 1.27cuft. I'll be stuffing some polyfils into it .
I guess it wont be on the same SQ level of 1.8cuft, but it should come close rite ??

I've got a pdf of a review on RSD 12" . Think that 's the one from CA&E.

Regards
