As a stand alone head unit, the DEX-P9 is virtually identical to the Z1 in function and performance. You can't get much better in terms of fidelity.
What sets the Pioneer apart from the Denon is when adding the DEQ-P9 processor. It will allow for full processing control of a 4-way crossover, 31 band EQ and time alignment. All done before the digital to analog conversion. The D/A's in the processor are the same as the head unit so there is no worry of sound being degraded from the in and out conversions that would be required with multiple outboard processors.
Like mentioned above, that means the ultimate in control and tunability. All done thru the head unit and the ability to store up to 5 different settings.

well thanks for the input guy,s I decided on the denon a100 as it has the good converters and other options to provide clean sound I allready have a ranes 3 way crossover and the alesis eq so signal processing shouldn,t be a problem, and the face will look pretty clean installed in my dash would have liked to have picked up a better unit but due to financial restraints and our dollar sucking so bad I decided on this one anyone ever used one of these?
