Anyone know a reputable online "custom" enclosure

Post by dako »

I decided to buy a Fi Audio Q12 to play around with, so I can try to reduce the weight in the back of my car by going with a single 12" instead of the current 2 12" setup and an extremely heavy enclosure.

I'm hoping to find someone that can build up a 1.3 cu ft sealed enclosure with a 1.5" front baffle and this a must...a routered speaker hole. The last custom box I bought online from what used to be a pretty reputable guy was pretty poorly done and I've never been too happy with it even though it does what it's supposed to, I was let down by the build quality. Especially since when I got it, I had to jig out about an extra 2" in diameter of speaker hole and I could feel mismatched join edges under the carpeting...

This one wouldn't need to be carpeted, as I'd be doing that myself...The one thing I actually have time for in between working full time and going to school at night. Any leads would be helpful or if someone here would be willing and able to do it (and provide pics of previous work) I'd certainly be up for it. Basically just looking for something clean and tight with a very strong build. Thanks guys.

The crazy thing is, I remember checking this site out quite awhile back and being blown away by his work. I just needed a reminder! :P

I have a FEW designs I have Acquired from pwk...if you need ideas to pass on to your builders...not necessarily for the Fi Q, but something like DD audio boxes and such....

I am sure specs are similar....
Beats paying $50 per box design!

I've seen good and bad reviews....

So YMMV....
Research first....get some ideas on specs....yourself first...and then go with what you think will work the best.

I am not saying this guy is no good...I am just saying that he doesn't have any customer service....a bad box is a box sold....
need a new one...? hehe..buy another set of plans and have me build you another....wham bam thankyou mam.

I have built 3 separate boxes designed by Pete. The best one I have done to date is the ABC box I built for a 12" RE SE. This box blew away every one that heard it. I still have it and plan on testing out the DCON with it in the FJ. I say give Pete a try, in my experience he is top notch.

The build quality is incredible, but you must be specific on the sound you are looking to get out of the box

Fisher Customs and Pound That Sound have both done excellent work.

Fisher uses really light weight tounge and grove strong boxes.

PTS does those extremely technical flared boxes.

i just put in a quote with fisher for a custom box. i was pretty much won over by the construction and finish quality. their standard box prices seem to be about what i'm looking at, so dropping a few extra bucks for a custom shouldn't set me back too far. thanks again for all your help guys!
