Maxxlink and Xenons?
Maxxlink and Xenons?
I would like to do some bassboxing and
I want to push a pair of SSA icon 10's or DC lvl4 10's
and want to either add 2 or 3 more x600.1's to my existing pair or
go with 4-x1200.'s.
Is this what the maxxlink is designed to do?
Or do the amps have to be strappable in order for the maxxlink to work?
From what I read on the maxxonics site it leads me to believe it will
regardless if the amps are strappable or not.
Thanks

If you have a dvc and you are setting the gain per ac voltage you really shouldn't have to run em strapped at all...AS LONG AS THE SIGNAL VOLTAGE IS THE SAME ON BOTH AMPS...you can run one amp per coil. Run each of the two amps running each sub to each coil and you ought to be okay...if the gain isn't exactly the same...on an meter...it can do greivious damage.
Be interesting to do it...I've not run my x1200.1 in the car yet but on my test board it seems to be fairly powerful. Once it is in the car I'll put it though its paces and see what it is putting out powerwise.
Ive personally never used a pg amp to run any of my big subs just because they don't make any really big amps, but they may do okay...considering that your electrical will handle 4 biggish mono blocks and give em the amperage that they need to run up to there unclipped zine

I am a little biased in my vote on which driver of the two you pick.

This is a damn good tip. I don't know if I'll ever run two amps to one sub, but I will keep this info in mind for future reference. Thanks man!!bogart wrote:oh...I've learned thru experience that if you do this you'll want to tie the two amps together thru a commen fuse so that if one goes down they both do...could save your sub

From its description it leads one to believe that it will work with any

Anyone have any expierence with one?

I wouldn't risk it personally. Some "mono" amps are actually internally bridged 2 channels. Not sure about your Xenons specifically. I know the X400.1's were strappable, but it disengages all the protection mechanisms as well when you do that.
You would be much better off with an amp per coil. This is very easy to do as long as you use a DMM to gain match them.

Hey guys, I've strapped jl/1000s...te1200.1 modded...sx1250 and cv exl1200s over the last few years on installs and it is all it really does in terms of install is reverses the polarity of the slave board and you wire master amp positive to sub positive and the positive of the slave to the negative on the sub.
As far as power goes, when you strap an amp at 2 ohms the bridge drops the impedance of the amps down to one on each board similar to running coils prll...giving you full output on both amps.
Out of all that I've run I only had issues with the vega's. It was my fault really...running an rfl in bandpass boxes with a 1 inch lid that i could pull...built 1/2 runners for the four exl's and mounted em above. The box was re enforced so I never really thought it would flex 2/3's on an inch and tap the amps...it did and knocked something loose and down they went in series...all four were on the same 300amp fuse and when one grounded out they all roasted. Made for a frightful night ...freaking lightening in my trunk...in addition it blew the bottem of the coil off the rfl so another 160 for the recone.
Overall minus idiot moves on my part my experience has been great and the power is quite nice as the current draw is still lower then running my audiobahn monster at even two ohms. Oh and strapping will give you one ohm power consumtion so be wary of that...

Yes, as the PP team has been very supportive of our little company.4Nine wrote:Do we get a PP.com discount..denim wrote:I am a little biased in my vote on which driver of the two you pick.
