well i went and made a new bowl for my car.
decided the one i had wasnt good enough...(yeah ill never finish this car)

here is some pics

this is basically how i did it back in 01 but now im making it for two 12
elites, so i am making it alot stronger.

my four 12 may still be an option since that box will still fit over the new bowl.

sorry for the large pics
dont know why those came out so damn big

ill have the first layer of glass pics up when i get some batteries for the camera

this is what i did different. i layed a layer of speaker box carpet
and glued it in the spare tire well. then i taped it up and layed foil.
i will glass te bowl and those strips in the middle are so that i can
secure it down to the well itself.

the reason i used carpet is becasue the first bowl i made rattled alittle against the metal of the well.
now when im ready to secure the box it will already fit with the carpet as padding.

did it in my friends car and it worked good.

Why not lay down a layer of sound deadning instead of the carpet and foil? I only ask because that is what I was planning to do. If there is a problem with that I would like to know ahead of time.

the soundeadning is not needed in the well.
the carpet is to keep the bowl from vibrating against the well.

the foil is not permanent, its a "release barrier"
and also keeps the tape from getting all sticky when i lay the glass down

after the bowl is done i will put a new layer of carpet down on the well and ill know the bowl will still fit into the well and not have any spaces to vibrate.
i did thsi with sound deadining in another car but carpet is cheaper and for where this bowl sits, deadning isnt really gonna make it better.
again i am only doing this to put a padding between the bowl and well.
