Beware of buying from ebay seller sonomaxaudio they are selling brand new alpine head units with the serial #'s scratched off.
How is that different than 90% of the grey market audio equipment on eBay?
The serial number can be tracked to the distributor who leaked the products... then the distributor loses their contract. Distributors often like to leak stuff, because they get bonuses and special deals by selling in larger quantities. So the simple solution is... scratch off the serial number, so that it can't be tracked back to them.
Most new amps I've bought from eBay have also had the serial numbers scratched off or removed.
