I talked to Ben@PG, and he said they have none left.

He also mentioned never hearing about this problem before... but both of my Powercores have had this issue (though the first one was not bad enough to crack the case, and was easily cleaned up).

I was thinking about speaking w/ matt @ alumapro b/c the guy that answered the phone seemed to think that they could assit/make it happen for us to get new guts in there... for what cost/headache involved i dunno... i'll be calling them in just a short bit, as it is nearing 12pm EST and they are on pacific coast- iirc?

on phone with alumapro right now on hold...
tech matt @ alumapro says that basically if we/whoever is savy enough... simply grab/purchase a few modules from them... they will be a lil shorter tabbed than the ones mfgs for PG, but cutting off the old tabs, getting some replacement brass bolts or something (just not stainless), and re-introducing the new module with connecting the old "tab extensions" (for lack of better term), that we would be good to go.

as typing this was put on hold, to get transfered to kevin... and got disconnected... but sounds as though it all simply depends on price of the modules - will update in a few.

OKAY GOT PRICING!!!!

150.00/each for the new innards/guts (AKA Module(s))
direct from alumapro...

Forgot to ask if that was shipped or otherwise.... but thats what we're looking at....

This doesn't only have to apply to us three involved with the thread directly... anyone that that would like one....just speak up, and we can put it together...

i asked about qty discounts... he said don't push it, that is the cost of these last time he bought them, and at 5farads... he didn't want to look at what the 15's were... so that's the deal!

trying to think if i will do that or not...maybe

thats makes for an expensive cap, especially on top of the purchase price.

Does he say if the problems has been fixed on these new ones or will the same thing happen again?

did not say specifically, but did stress that they would be new (of course) and the fact that they (the older ones) might have just sat around and not been excited/used might have helped contribute to the fact of them failing and become problematic.

albeit the 150 + purchase price is expensive, (AND given they are new, they were bought/made/etc recently - so I am inclined to think it is/would make for good cap for x-amount of time.

I still haven't made decision for myself, i am really trying fundraise right now and not spend money.,.. SO half of me says/thinkis maybe i will just offer mine up for sale for likes of 100 or so, and then the buyer can buy module and then off and running with new cap (essentially speaking)... will post up in for sale thread if i decide to go that route.

So the $150 is for the 5 farad cap? So effectively this would reduce the 15 farad power core to a third of what it originally was? :/

no, that is for 15 farad...
he said that the quote he gave me was based on what he paid for the 5 farad, and he didnt even want to look at what it cost him for the 15's... maybe he didnt have it in front of him, maybe he didnt want to spend time looking it up, whoknows... but they would be for 15f's,

Kinda like, knowing the situation, and feeling a lil compassion for us... Ihave that way w/ ppl sometime he is doing us a favor, IOW he is kinda doing us a solid. know what I mean

in fcat to add to that... it was based on what he LAST paid for a 5 farad... not what the cost is now too. BUT yes and again, they would be 15's

not your fault tibbs... no way could we hold you accountable... we perfectly understood the dynamics of what this was about when we entered into the transaction, and i think it would be kind a bit much for each and everytime someone does an assist that the "middle man" open everything up and all that stuff... for free especially! you were there to help out and you did and did it well, i am still pleased - it is what it is, and certainly not your fault.

I cant tell you just how bad I felt about Nico's cyclone fiasco... I was sick to my stomach for like a week, so I perfectly know how you feel, but thats pretty much the risk of entering into a transaction like this in this type of venue.

No hard feelings to you at all - whatsoever... and would do again w/o thinking twice.

sometimes it sucks to buy used and get a great deal..... Been dealing with the same issues in getting my stang fixed.

Who was having the electrical issues that we asked him to disconnect the powercore? Never heard anything after that.....

At that price I think it is still worthwhile. I can have a mint AL powercore for another $150, or a pile of nothing for $0.

Same thoughts over here.
I'm willing to invest those 150$ (+ shipping) to obtain an almost new operational p'core.

Damn...

I have 5 of those - and I have not checked any of them yet...

But 5 x 150$ = 750$.... Plus shipping etc = maybe 1000$$$...

Auch... I have to do some serious thinking....
