Ok, I can do that too...

Very informative graphs... I especially like how the powder vs crack cocaine plays out across racial lines.
I wonder if its cost of substance or the effects of the substance that causes that disparity.
I would also like to see a graph of how religious a society is superimposed onto the very first map of incarceration.... it seems to me through my readings that the more devout a society, the less crime.
I am also intrigued by the jump in incarcerations between Singapore and Thailand.

If you look into the history of why marijuana was criminalized in the first place, it was mainly done as a means of controlling the immigrant Mexican laborers who imported it, and the predominantly Black jazz clubs that popularized it. While crack is undoubtedly the harsher drug, the massive disparity in prosecution and the racial lines that are drawn are far too solidly in favor of white people. More of the same-ol-same-ol in my mind.
I dont think religion necessarily deters crime either. Most of the lowest incarcerated countries in that graph are also the least religious (aside from India and Saudi Arabia). Many religious countries also create their own absurd crimes based off of their religion, like the death penalty for being a homosexual, or stoning your wife to death because she wouldn't put out.
The jump going to Singapore has a lot to do with their ridiculous laws as well. Pretty sure littering is a $5000 fine. Any homosexual act gets you jail time. Chewing gum is also illegal and importing it probably gets you a jail sentence as well.
The story HAS to be fake, or the idiot with the supposed gun would be in jail for fraudulent use of the attackers phone and credit cards.
Do you guys realize that 70% of armed robberies here in the States is with those 70 dollar Jensen 22 lrs?? And you can have all the gun laws you want, its not like the criminals are abiding by our gun laws anyway. Most gun laws just prohibit the 90 percent of us law abiding citizens anyway.
The guy who wrote that add on CL was a moron. Some people don't believe in owning guns, that is fine. I just wish the ones that start pointing out how bad guns are, would realize that most of these crimes are committed with stolen guns, or guns bought illegally. As if a criminal is going to obey the laws the government applies is completely idiotic. So the Governments of the world can keep on passing guns laws, they will only affect the people who obey the laws in the first place.
I own a lot of nice fire arms, and I will pass on the respect and safety to my children. I hope and pray I never have to use them outside of hunting and target practice. But I do know that if someone threatens my family/ children in my home, I won't be in fear waiting for the police to show up.
Gotta respect everyone's view here, even if we disagree with the other. Just wish common sense was more a genetic trait.
My tidbit of an opinion. As intelligent as the human race may be, with all of the incredible accomplishments we have made, we are socially inept. We just don't know how to get along with each other.
Misfire, may I add to your desire for common sense with a desire for mutual respect for others on all levels? Race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, social and economic status, etc...
This is a very deep topic that can take off in so many valid directions.
