what happened??!!
Ok, I am in the same boat as your friend. I have never heard of one sub popping out like you have explained, unless it was hit with DC.
Subs are pretty simple, you have a magnet, and a coil if you get down too it. If you put no signal on the coil, the sub just sits there. If you put AC on the coil the sub moves in and out. If you put DC on a sub the sub moves one way and then stays there until the coil fails or the DC is removed from it.

Somehow your one sub got hit with DC. We need to find out the source of it.
Now I know you have said they are in parallel. But, what more can you tell us? There has to be something you overlooked, even if it is slight, and we are trying to help you find that.
Did the wires come out of the amp and go to one speaker, then on to the next speaker?
Or, did one set of wires go from the amp to a sub, and a separate set of wires go from the amp to the second sub?

I can understand your frustration, been there myself at least twice this week (fried amp and fried computer)!schroedes wrote:Haha, thanks guys, wasn't trying to offend, just frustrated, loved the rsdcs, was just liking for an answer ya know
But, please try to go easy. We want to help, some of us like myself are arrogant, and provoking us will get you nothing.

Ok, we are getting somewhere. Is the box wood? What is it covered in? Do you have grills on the speakers? I know these questions seem to have nothing to do with anything, but give me a chance.schroedes wrote:Ya, came out of amp then jumped to next sub at box

What is inside the box? Empty space, polyfill, or any other wiring which runs through the box to get somewhere else?

I think the subs may have been mounted with drywall screws from the photos, so that could have lead to their failure...FuzzyHoNutz wrote:I have to ask if drywall screws were used....................

I think I deserve bonus points for not getting pissed off and ripping on this guy like I normally do. Restraint is a hard lesson to learn.

I was thinking the same thing. I usually get upset when a guy asking for help calls me a name for no reason but hey I haven't used 6x9's for 20 years and I'm the cheeseball!Eric D wrote:I think I deserve bonus points for not getting pissed off and ripping on this guy like I normally do. LOL, no there's no wires inside the box, and no polyfill, 3/4 Mdf, 1.25 cut feet each chamber, didn't use drywall screws but I did put polyfill in with the new subs, I'm still somewhat of a noob so ya I know 6x9 s are worthless hah, forgot that I had those pics up, that's with the old ryval amp, need to get rid of cap too, appreciate the help guys gonna work on it today
So just to get better clarification, the 1 atlas you have left is running fine on the same amp.....right? Not that it would make the woofer do wierd shit but did you make sure both woofers were the same ohm....? Reason I ask is because sometimes they make mistakes and send 1 different and maybe the amp didn't like it..........
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!
Well, it there was nothing for the sub to ground out on, and both were hooked up but the second did not die, something odd happened to the first one. I know it seems like a defect, but I stand behind the assertion that subs can't move on their own. Something related to the output of the amp being offset had to feed the sub to kill it.
