Hey guys, I got to say ever since I bought my first PG item in 2000, Ive been hooked ever since. And now, since i first found this awesome community of PG lovers, I check this site every day.
Couple of basic questions:
1: I have a zx475ti, I just got some RSD65cs, what frequency should the amp be set at to maximize the midbass on the rsds? And also, should it be set to Highpass or bandpass?
2: My zx600ti is starting to show its age. Ive read on here that the frequency pot can oxidize over time, how hard is it to swap this pot out for a new one? Im not that skilled in electrical stuff, just basic principles from physics class or what not.
3: I have 2 old zx500 and zx350....they both power up but just no output. Ive read that you would need to replace the caps on these amps, how hard would it be to do so? Does the new PG still repair the zx line of amps?
couple of basic questions....
I can answer the first one for you with a suggestion: run them full range - no high pass filtering, etc.
This way, so long as you don't absolutely hammer them with bass with an eq that's set for big bass gain, you'll enjoy a very nice bottom end from them. You'll also notice that your mid-bass will have much more kick, especially where it starts to roll off naturally down where your sub takes over. Your bass will also seem to come from in front of you more (if that's where you're mounting these) instead of all happening back behind you.
Try it at least as you may be pleasantly suprised.

on the second question for the crossover pot on the 600 if its not all the way gone you could turn it back and forth in a linear motion. meaning slowly turn it one way all the way without stoping and then back the other way with out stoping. do this a few times until it feels the same when you turn it this helps to move the dust bunnys out of the pot and it has worked for me a couple of times.
I'll take 3rd and recomend you talk to one of the guys here that work at AAMP..... But IIRC
, they do make repairs..... Hell, if ya can design an amp you should be able to fix one.......

Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

Re: couple of basic questions....
Could you recommend me a member who would be interested in repairing those amps at all? Being a medical student, $150 each amp is like groceries for 3 months. Thanks!tonym wrote:
