RCA Cable Opinions

I've been part of many discussions on RCA cables and the audible differences. This is my experience... When I first got into car audio many lightyears ago I used to use cheap cables because I thought "cables were cables". I ended up damaging a pair during an install and opted for a nicer set of Monster RCAs. This is what I noticed: The bass was greatly improved and much more solid. The highs were more detailed and seemed to come to life after the upgrade. I'm posting this because i'm curious if this argument is still out there and if there are people that still believe that there is no difference between patch cables.

By the way... I just ordered (2) 2-channel sets of Steeetwires ZN9250 5 meter sets for my truck. I am currently running the IXOS RCAs to my frontstage amp and a top of the line monster set. The monster set is too short so I had to couple a 3' set of IXOS to the Monster sub amp RCAs. To make a long story short, That's why I ordered 2 new sets so that I have 2 matching sets of the right length. there is some improvement that can be made from cables but ther is also a limit. I can't say I have ever heard the difference between chyogenically frozen silver wires and any other good quality cables.

I too ran cheap wires in my first system. When I had some cash I upgraded to monster cables and was also suprised that I heard a difference. I figured it was just a plecebo effect until my buddy got in and no shit the first words out of his mouth were if I got a new amp.

You are right...there is definitely a limit. They do carry the signal to your amplifiers though so I try to help the signal get there without too much loss. Cheapo cables IMO can degrade the signal. I really like the cables I just ordered... Not a bad price either. Wierd thing is that I bought them on ebay and payment went to AAMP of America. Hmm. Interesting.

To be honest I have some really old pg 20 foot rca cables the kind that look like copper speaker wire with red/black plastic ends and I switched them to a new high end PG twisted direction pair and I didn't notice a difference with my ear meter but that could be because of all the bass I listened to as a child.last year lol

since I discovered what I learned I have never since got anything too cheap, but also not too expensive. I am currently sitting on the stockpile of PG zero point rcas that I can't wait to see installed. In my experience the blue jacket is good for at least a 3 db gain to me with all the trouble I had to go to get them

I have a pile of the 20 foot platinum series arx or whatever they are called,but I need to get a bunch of shorter ones like 3-6 feet to match.I also have a couple of the gold series cables laying around.
