Basscube Question's
I looked at a basscube today after work. The guy is selling it on craigslist for 100 bucks. When I got there he showed me what looked like a mint unit then he pulled out a phone cord for your telephone and it didn't seem to work so I plugged in the LPL control cord for my RSD 1200.1 and it was doing something but I don't think it was working right. There is a red light by the knob that didn't light up should it? The big knob pulls in and out what is happening there? I figure the big knob is the gain and the small knob is the frequency?

What do you think of this?
when the BassCUBE was designed, the engineers didnt realize that a standard phone cable is what we call a "flipped cable", where if you were to lay the cable flat without any twists in it, on one end the connector would be tab up, and the other end would be tab down. on a standard RJ11 plug (the phone plug), the telephone requires that the pinout is as follows:
#1 - Black
#2 - Red
#3 - Green
#4 - Yellow
But the BassCUBE needs a non-flipped cable, which are hard as heck to find... so I will give you the quick easy fix.
You need a 2-line (4-wire) telephone cable that has a black, a red, a green, and a yellow wire in side it, and you will need 4 crimp caps or other way to splice the wires back together. You then need to cut the wire in half, and carefully seperate and strip each wire on each piece of the cable. Call one piece "Part A", and the other piece "Part B". Then you need to splice the cable back together as below.
Part A Part B
Black ------------------> Yellow
Red --------------------> Green
Green -----------------> Red
Yellow ----------------> Black
Once you have done this, and your SURE that your splice is good (not shorted out), then go ahead and plug your modified cable into the BassCUBE and its remote control, power it up, and you should be good to go.

some phone wires are wired differently as your post above states. some of the wires only have 2 wires inside and they do not work at all either.
it was not uncommon that when people sold the car and pulled the pieces they would leave the cables in the vehicle, and then just grab any cable they found no knowing any different. There are a couple that will still plug in as normal but will not work.

what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
