Budget system coming together very nicely!

Post by Audiophiliac »

Well this has been a long process....but waiting for good deals to pop up has paid off again. I just won a set of Exile XT65 comps for $77 shipped.

I posted in august about winning a pair of Exile XT10 in a nice enclosure. I also have a nice Kenwood HU to control my Keg. Just need an amp and wiring kit and motivation to install. :)

Here is what I have so far:

Kenwood KDC-X792 ($88)
Kenwood Music Keg KHD-CX910 ($50)
Exile XT65 ($77)
Exile XT10 (2) ($89)

So far, I $304 into this system. Not including the sale of a few items to offset the cost of the above gear. Just need to find the perfect amp for this setup and get it wired up. I wish I would have not sold the X200.4 I had....and on that note I wish I would not have sold my SOFAS, M44, MPS2240 (franked), MQ430s, EQ215ix, Ti500.4AL, Xtant 1.1is, Exile 800.4, Bass Cube (franked)....etc...etc....hahahaha....:idiot:

I would like around 100W a side for the XT65s and around 400 @ 2 ohms for the subs. I need an LPL too. My budget should really be $200 for an amp and wiring.

Update:

As luck would have it, the speakers arrived with damaged tweeters!! I asked nicely and even threw in an extra $5 for the seller to double box the speakers since his plan was to ship in their original box. Well even that task was too much for this guy because there was a few inches of shredded paper under the speaker box, but nothing on top and about 4" to the top of the shipping box! WTF??

That was not the issue though. The issue was that he tossed in the mounted screws without any kind of bag or box. Well when you have magnets and steel screws floating around in the same box, you know what happens! The tweeters each had about 3 screws stuck to the front of them. Both domes were dented. One looks like I might could save it, but one looks like it may have punctured the surround...

At any rate, I emailed photos and sent him a message through eBay hoping to resolve this without involving my CC company, eBay services, or PayPal. We will see what his replay is. I know a shipping damage claim will go nowhere because it was not shipping damage. It was lame packaging.

I also sent for a price to replace the tweeters from Exile.

The mids and crossovers look fine....some rust on the terminals is all. I have not hooked them up yet. I will wait to see what the seller wants to do. Between this and the shipping fiasco on the Exile subs I got a great deal on, I am about ready to throw in the towel on dealing with sellers that I do not know and trust already. None of the people I have dealt with on this phorum would ever be so retarded.

my Diamond audio D9 800.4 might fit your amp bill other then the budget depending one what your budget was. I will let one of them go for $250 if you want it, they are great amps....
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
