What's your opinion? (RSd and X-MAX combo)

Post by mixmaster68 »

I have 2 Rsd DVC 12's and 2 X-MAX SVC 12's that i am about to stuff into the trunk of a 97 Accord. Do you think that setup will slam as long as i have sufficient power and ported enclosures constructed for these subs? [/b]

it will definitely move some air!

do you have any means of dividing the range of notes?

i would actually port the rsd's box to something silly low like 25hz (which need a massive box..as they like 1.5 sealed each.) and low pass them off at like 45hz

then have the xmax's sealed in a relatively small box to play 45-80ish

if you just give them power and let them do their thing, you will get a lot of cancellation and weird peaks in the notes

They will definitely slam. Although its a bit taboo to mix subs, if you just want loud it will be loud.

I would use separate boxes for the Xmax and RSDcs though....

I just went ahead used sealed enclosures i had laying around(RSd 3cube and x-max around 2cube) just for testing and it actually created some colossal sound with just a memphis 16-st1000d at 1.33ohms pushing all 4. But now i have a new problem, My 1000d is acting up. It's going into protect mode with a the power led blinking on and off? Could the internal realy in those amps be that sensitive to vibration? Btw i did bring each pair of subs into my house and hooked them up to my peavey 1000x just to kinda test and no problems there. Any insight would be appreciated.

at 1.33 ohm the amp could be clipping or trying to draw to much current or the volts are getting to low some amp will shut down before they damage them selfs

try doing what ttocs say's first but also make sure your ground and power connections are real good the amp could be trying to draw more power than what's available and going into protection.
