Need help!!! Not hitting like it should

Post by pdxtls6875 »

I am brand new on here, and have limited experience in car audio (the technical stuff).

I currently have a 2003 Acura TL-S with:
1 - Blue top Optima up front
1 - Pioneer DEH-P7900BT
1 - SHURiKEN - SK-BT20 in the back
3 - 12" Phoenix Gold RSdC124 - in a custom sealed box. All one chamber and approx 3cf internal air space
1 - Ti2500.1
1 - Ti600.4
1 - pair Morel Tempo 6 separates in the front and stock speakers in the rear doors.

It is a work in progress as you can see. But my biggest question is... Why the hell doesn't the bass hit like i thought it would?

any ideas? Suggestions? modifications? wiring?

They are wired in series parallel. It's like they aren't getting enough power.

Or maybe ditch the 3 subs and go with 2? one? I am open to any ideas. I just want the hardest hit out of my 2500.1

what is the impedence the amp is supposed to be seeing then? And have you tested it with a meter to be sure its wired right? Its easy to mix up and if the amp isn't putting enough power out I have to wonder how the subs are wired.

They're not, with 3 of the D4's wired as you stated you're getting a 2.67ohm load and each sub is rated at 600wrms - 1200 peak. The 2500.1 makes the most power at a 1ohm load, so your not getting anywhere near the power you need, if they were D2's it would be a different story. Don't wire the subs in parallel / parallel or you'll see a .067ohm load which will shut the amp down due to too low of a load. Pictures below from JL's website.

What would be a good subwoofer match-up to my 2500.1? I want it to hit!

disconnect one sub and run 2 subs with all 4 coils in parallel. Or else trade for SVC subs and you can get it down closer to 1 ohm.

If you wanna stay with the 3 - 12" set up in PG you could go with the new TI212D2 subs, should be about the same size as the RSDC's and wired per the pictures I posted would give you a 1.33ohm load which would be just the right power for them . If ur located in Portland, check out Car Stereo City or Outrageous Audio as they're PG dealers ...if you wanna stay usin' PG 12's. ")

make sure all the subs are wired in the same phase also. if 1 was backwards it would cause cancellation.

even on 200rms each, rsd's still rail pretty good

good to see another portlander!
