the Q of " bass boost "...more focused or wide ?

guys can anyone pls explain to me a little more then what the manual says bout the bass boost cct , on the PG amps ie rsd. ?

The spec says its a bass boost at 45Hz .
Does it have a high Q and more focused at 45Hz or a lower Q with wider b/w ?

I've got my XO on the rsd1200.1 at 65Hz with very little boost.
I usually use a 55Hz or 60Hz tone to set up the amp for its correct output level.
I realize there's 2 ways to hit the amp target output voltage for a given input voltage level.

1) Increase the sensitivity until it reaches the target voltage or
2)Increase the sensitivity a little and then increase the bass boost until it reaches the target voltage.

With a XO set at values like 65Hz we are actually concentrating to a very narrow band rite, so say the " bass boost" has a wide Q then whats the difference between using the sensitivity or bass boost to get the target voltage ?

Or is it not a good idea to turn up the bass bosst to something close to half way ?
How do ull play around with the bass boost guys?

what i'm sayin might be utter nonsense

but have this Q in my mind for some time now ,so i thought ur guys' view on this would be great.

In my experience activating a bass boost will lower the bottom octaves big time and triple the high octaves of bass . Hence, it makes sound suck big time. Bass boost is usually for SPL.

TO answer your question directly.

Bass boost has nothing to do with input voltage. Bassboost is taking the frequency of the bass and doubling or tripling its amplitude.

Adding bass boost doent just add bass, it adds distortion.
But when adding input voltage it will not add distortion but take away usually cause you will have more headroom or should I say more power to play with.

A Bass boost is like stretching a rubber band to its maximum and then stretching it more!

If you find that your system is lacking in bass for the certain frequencies you desire then try using a differnet box. Maybe even a totally different speaker. Crap speakers usually play loud at just a few bass frequencies. If you need to boost something, something aint right..
