12" Sub recommendation for Bandpass

Post by andy600rr »

Ok guys, see if you can help me out....

I'm looking for recommendations on a single 12 to use in either a 4th or 6th order Bandpass design (don't ask..... where I'm gonna put the enclosure limits me to BP). I dont need an enclosure designed for me, just a driver recommendation if you know that one will work in this application.

The sub will at this stage be powered off an M50 with maybe an M100 sometime in its future.

Back in the day when I was selling & installing 250-300 rms was plently for a single 12. Nowdays it seems unless you're running a D-class with enough power to reverse the earths rotation then you're just not cool. Sub design seems to have fallen down the route of `How much power can we make this thing handle without letting the smoke out' and as a result efficency has suffered.

So, back on topic, what do you guys recommend. I'm open to brand & cost but please don't reply back with `You'll need 1200rms+ to run a sub', or `Just do a sealed/ported enclosure'

TIA

Andy

i found xmax 12s really beat down in a bp

i done one and that thing was insane in depth
although the bandwidth was kinda narrow
it had major output from 25 to 40 hz
You may have subs in your car........but my doors sound better!
