XS4600 vs ZX475Ti

Post by billyrohm »

Same power ratings, I know that the ZX power supply lets it do a little more, but if I switch from the 475 to the 4600 (I might do it due to amp location) how much power am I really losing and what would I be gaining?

Don't under estimate the XS series of amps, they have plenty of balls behind them. If anything, the ZX series amps have better accesories (crossovers and adjustablity features). From a human point of view I highly doubt you'll notice the difference. At the end of the day the XS is also better for taking a physical beating. You can step on those amps and not worry about damaging them. While the ZX is fan cooled the downside is debris can enter through it, XS depends on heatsinks. I had a pair of XS2500's in an amp rack adn they never once thermalled.

Yeah, I know about the physical abuse, thats one of the reasons I may replace my zx475 with it, what about overall power? I ask this because the 475 calls for a 80 amp fuse while the 4600 has 60 amps total.
