M44 Speaker ohm question

Post by denisl »

Are there any issues if I run 4 ohm components on my front channels and 2 ohm coax on the rear channels? Would I just lower the rear gain to compensate for the additional power?

Or could I run the front components in parallel to drop them down to 2 ohms on one channel?

Thanks.

Lower the gains in the rear. No problemo.

Could I run my front components in parallel to drop them to 2 ohms and get 110WRMS out of my front channels?

Would that give me 110WRMS front and 110WRMS rear since the rears are already 2ohms?

No... you can't run one speaker in parallel on itself. You would need a second component set up front to do this, which is not usually a great idea.
