They were worth something at one time??

They have always been crap to me. AVG is the only antivirus I use.

Symantec has this great ability to buy smaller software companies and then bloat their software to hell and back.

Well 10 years ago...they were something heading slowlllyyyy downward.
15 years ago...they were on the rise. 3 or 4 years ago now it's a slead ride downhill.

How is Ghost? I've been using it for years but never had to recover data (knock on wood).

Ghost has worked fine for a while but the last version I used was... more than 5 years ago.

I use good ol' free G4L now.

Ghost is one of those programs that should NEVER go away. It's a great program. Probably the only thing from symantec I'd ever buy/use.

to clone drives mainly...other than that thats it.

Ever tried Acronis TrueImage? I heard it's superior to Ghost in it's latest incarnations... but I don't know from experience as I haven't used it.

I'm a Linux geek so I always find the open source solution first.

Ghost4Linux owns. So does freshmeat.

Ordinarily I would agree Norton has never done anything for me until last night. I have NOD32( best virus software I have used) on my computer which has been telling me I had virtumonde but no matter how many times it deleted it and rebooted it would still be there. I tried all the known fixes for it but nothing could get it off.
As a last resort went to nortons site and dl trial of norton 360. Well after the lengthy install and scan it found virtumonde and a few other minor things and it fixed everything perfectly.
So maybe norton got something right with the new 360
