Hardwire Ipod

Post by 97eXpo »

Im looking to hardwire my ipod to my stock hu to avoid the tacky cassete adapter or fm transmitter. its 97 expedition with the factory cd changer in the center console. i have located the cd changer harness and was wondering if there was a way i could tap into the harness for my ipod. is there an easy way to find the audio wires?

thanks in advance

you should see if you can find the factory service manual online or pick it up on cd. It should have the pinouts for it.

Or if they make an aux input adapter for your vehicle that would be easy....but i dont see one for the 97 model.

Probably the head unit/changer connection is balanced line audio. The ipod's audio is not. You can likely find a converter to convert line output to balanced, but I have never looked.
