What sub do i run?

Post by seandiguer »

I need some opinions please. I'm installing a stereo in my wifes car and need some ideas on what sub(s) to get. I'm running my outlaw and possibly another M50 for amps, ti.6 components in the front off the m50 part of the outlaw, and still undecided on rear speakers. I would like to run just 1 sub or possibly 2 8"subs. I'm more after sound quality than anything else, and would like to keep the box as small as possible. What would you run?

PS: the car is a 2003 bonneville ssei.

If you would liek to keep it in the PG family I guess you could always use any RSD or RSDC.

From what I read about the rsdc10 inch sub woofer I would think that would be a good match... Not too much. I'll let u know how my rsdc 12 sounds. I am only having one because I dont like it too loud and crazy.

I was considering the rsdc10. Would the m100 match up good? would it be to much? What kind of box size am i looking at? do they like a sealed or ported box? Never heard or used one, so who has one and whats it like?

I was also looking at a focal 33v1 13" sub and a herts es250 10"

A 10" RSDC off of an M100 should be fine. Stipud is running a 12" RSDC off of 300 watts. He's no bass head though. At 4 ohms mono you should be hitting close to the subs min RMS.

Supposedly over at the IASCA forums the JL 10w6 and IDQ10 is very SQ oriented. Not heard the 10w6's, but i've heard the 12w7 and 13w7 though. For bass head junkies those two are insane, but I wasn't very impressed with overall SQ though.

I'm looking toward the 10 rsdc and IDQ10 also.

in my opinion...the JL W3 and W6's can't stack up against the RSd and RSDc

even when price isnt taken into account....

ID sub has a little more power (spl) than the IDQ and not as good in the sound quality department. The IDQ is a better SQ sub.

i run 2 rsdc 10's, previously i was using 3 diamond audio d6 10s- i like the rsdc's personally alot better( faster response, excursion is 14.3mm, where as my d6s are 17mm),- you could do 1 10 in a small sealed box, but thats how they are best- per the specs; but i do run mine ported, thats just my personal preference-

If I were in your situation then I would probably look at these two subs.

RSDc 10
IDQ 10

Both have a very small enclosure for a sealed box. Here are two links to both pdf files.

So if im running it off my M100(outlaw) do i want a dual 2 ohm sub for the best performance out of it?

keep the m100 at 4ohms just to be safe...so the D2 is the version you want

No problems whatsoever running my M100 at 2 ohm stereo. The 2 ohms bridged I was running before made the amp run hotter and it did fail, whether or not that was the load/heat, I don't know.
