omg....he tried to sell you a SOny?....well.....I have like most of the guys here ...owned expensive amps....

and there is a reason we seem to come back to PG...

I am going to re-install my Xenon 200.2 back in the car today.....they sound excellent...and I have had all kinds of stuff in the cars over the years

now I am not familair really with the RSD....I didnt like them when they came out ....but the Xenon is in no way inferior to the Zapco......

I dont beleive all the hype about anything Zapco...now I like the old Zapco...but I am going to remove a USA made Eclipse and put back in my Xenon...

I have 2 other 200.2 Xenons for sale btw..

that guy is just regurgitating marketing hype his zapco reps passed to him.

the pg line is more reliable then previous lines and just as solid as its ever been

i can tell you first hand (sorry pg) that the reason dealers stopped carrying pg is because they can't keep their gear off eBay. dealers cant make money on a line that customers can snag online for the same as their dealer cost.

I would do a Pepsi challenge of those zapco's vs the rsd's and day of the week.

i would be REALLY interested to hear about what he thinks makes the zapco a better amp.

after reading the zapco manual, they touch heavily on their bi-polar output transistors, their 1% tolerance resistors, and high temperature capacitors. the same parts rsd amps use.

These may be interesting reads for you...

This shows the parts and design quality is still in modern PG amps:

And this shows a comparison to Zapco:

On a circuit design level, there is very little that puts Zapco ahead of the game. Honestly, my only gripes with the RSD series is that they have 18dB crossovers and no LPL in the multi channel amps. Other than that, they are a very solid line... and CHEAP for what you get. I don't recall any RSD amp failures on this forum either.

RSd 500.4 has TIP 35/36C output devices, the same as all the originally Robert Zeff engineered smaller 4-channel amplifiers. Regaring the power, they are pretty equal, since the 50 watts Zapco rating is not a 13.8 or 14.4 volts rating.

Indeed, the online sales of PG products are a huge problem and I can understand, why dealers don't wanna sell PG anymore.

I think this topic is mirrored on CA.com and he chose JBL's. But I could be wrong and there could be another guy asking about the same two series of amplifiers at the same time. :P

Hey, at least their Crown/BPX amps are damn good, and they make decent speakers and subs as well. But their GTO amps.... meh.

God, those things are powerhouses.

I loved my little BPX500.1. Put out nearly 800 watts from 1-4 ohms... just like the X600.1, but smaller :)

Ofcourse the guy is going to tell ya to with Zapco , hes making a killing if you buy them.

And regarding PG sales online on ebay: i was told by my sales rep that if they see any PG amps or speakers for sale by me on ebay they would cut all ties  so they are taking the right steps regarding that kind of stuff. Accessories not so much , but I know of many un0authorized distributors that sell PG for dirt. I cant stand folk thats bring a brand to dirt for sellign it for so cheap but there is the fact that some dealers price gouge up the yang and that isnt cool.

the online sales were the onlything keeping them moving product for a long time.

they are taking the right steps, but they still have lots of dealers with gear on ebay, and then they still have to regain trust after that from the dealers.

there is still a long fight ahead

I would like SSA to be an online authorized dealer.
