I like the idea of having separate fuses for my amps. So I went out and looked at the fuses 120amps for rsd 1200.1 and 50.1 amps for 300.4 that totals 170 amps so i am going with 200 amp main fuse with 120 amp 1200.1 sub fuse and 50 amps for 300.4.

Just a thought you may want 3/8" ize holes if your gonna bolt them up to the battery., 5/16 is not big enough. GL

If I hook it up to the optima or stinger battery Will use the XScorpion gold plated finish ring terminal style battery terminal. It doesn't say what size the screws are. I would think 5/16

Optima side posts are 3/8's so is pretty much every other battery I have seen.

what about the XScorpion gold plated finish ring terminal style battery terminals. that's what everything will be hooked to except the stock system that is existing already everything aftermarket will run to the top post ring terminals

I was thinking about it earlier http://www.darvex.com/store/pc/viewPrd. ... ategory=14 longer to fit all the terminals. But if i get dual terminals I will run the stereo off the top and the truck from the side posts. It seems no matter what I'm going to get dual posts unless i cut up the factory wiring and go to just top posts

How many of those do you want I will sell you them for $3 each plus shipping, loose in a padded envelope it will cost more if you want the packaging.
However mine are not gold they are platinum or silver. shipping to you would be about $4 maybe. I would have to check for sure. it will depend on the weight of the envelope,I have 2 gold stinger ones but I paid a premium for those locally so I would need $16 plus shipping for those.

The main fuse is there to protect the cable in case of a short circuit. The amps dont mind if you have a 1000000amp fuse. Thats why they have their own.

The max size of the main fuse is determined by cable gauge.

So the idea is 1/0 with 200 amp main fuse to the midi fused distro block where it will switch to 4 gauge power and ground wires. 4 gauge ground wires will tee into 1/0 tee splitter then to my frame. As well ditch the cap and upgrade the big three. then the stock batt is weak so an optima or stinger dry cell is in the future but the stinger is pricey with the shipping so I'm leaning towards optima. That being said high amp alt do I need? it and if I got the stinger 1500d would that give me a better chance of not needing high amp alt over the optima. with the price difference I can almost afford a cheesy alt so :|

The alternator is the heart of the system, not the battery. The battery only provides reserve current when your alternator can not keep up with the current demands of the amplifers.

I would buy the Alt first. I mean you'll need a solid battery and the big 3 but the alt would be my first choice. What are you looking at? My Mechman 270 has worked awesome since I've had it. It was a direct bolt in as well 200 amps at 800RPM, full output at 2000RPM

The max size of the main fuse is determined by cable gauge.
Is there a general guide or chart available for this?

Thanks

the Mechman 270 amp alternator (30411162-00) for my truck is $400 + shipping. Looks like a quality item and I'm considering it. Would you run a fuse on the charge wire to the battery? They also sell batteries that put out 16 volts and say Powering your system with 16 Volts can increase the output of your amplifiers by as much as 40%. Sounds pretty scary to have voltage that high for the components in the truck. I really don't need any more power from my amps but I would like to match the alt to a battery.

got my goodies from darvex today so I will be upgrading my big three on Sunday. I have to work 6-10's for the next bit so I don't have much time but the stereo keeps clipping and it is pissin me off. I am going to work on it one step at a time until the clipping stops to find out where the weak link is. I am also looking at buying some kicker L7 12" subs or maybe 15" and just folding down the back seats. I also have 4 MTX MZS 1204 12" subs in the closet doing nothing so I should try making a ported box for all 4 or just 2 as they are only 300 watts rms each.
