2005 Volvo S40

Post by Rold Gold »

So my buddy got himself a 2005 S40....................
Pretty sweet car...... SUX MONKEY BALLS to upgrade the system........ So I need input...... My idea is to tap into the rear to add a sub.......... But how..? It has the DolbyII system in it so it's got amps........... I guess it has an optional 8" sub but where does that plug in? Anybody play in 1 of these yet?

Gear-
2-12" RSd svc
Ryval V8001 plenty of power and has speaker inputs
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

Hey fuzzie...I did an Audi last years that had the same type of thing...I took out the ratt shit 8 it came with and installed an sld 44 off of the sub channel high pass inputs and ran a big amp and a couple 12in type r's...never had any issue.

May want to insure that everything isn't a -dc ground switch like a few other European cars. could get in a wreck in a hurry if it is and you just start tapping in....

you ought to be able to use the high pass input but your signal current is going to be shit.... maybe 2 volts before it clips...if your lucky...sld is cheap and easy... up to 11 per channel volts and it has dual outputs if he ever decides to bypass the stock highs and install a second amp

if you need a hand let me know...sounds easy enough

I've always replaced EVERYTHING but in this case I can't............ I've read that there is only 5 wires for the stock harness.......... Not sure though............. Figured somebody has had to have done it around here.............. Newer shit scares me alittle for good reason I guess......... I planned to use an SLD44 but I guess the remote wire isn't the full 12v like a regular deck so you have to tap into a switched power source under the dash somewhere..........

Chris-- I'm a bit confused with this. You tapped into the sub (speaker wire) outputs into high input on the SLD??

Reason I ask is because I would like to install my subs now and highs/mids later. And this is ideally- exactly what I need to do. Nissan Maxima '08

Thanks, Roldy sorry for the thread jack.

Harold... we just need to figure out where the preamp signal goes into the amps, and the remote wire. A wiring diagram would be a huge help...

really???? this is the first I have heard about that. Any certain kind of iron as far as solder gun, butane or just any iron that touches a wire and BOOM!

Only way I see that being possible is if you were working on more than one wire at the time and shorted them out with the soldering iron.
