Nice one Pedi, yes they are spendy and its easy to use an arm and a leg bying optionparts as well. I have wanted one LS car all since i saw the Marder in Pedi`s garage some years ago, i have a nitro but got a little tired of it because its always some parts to change, nitro is to small and weak i guess, the LS cars seem like they are strong build and the engines will always start as well, not like the nitro with the glow plug nightmare.

Stipud: I have been into the 1:10 scene aswell. I bought the Traxxas T-maxx some years ago when that one entered the Monster truck scene. So many years ago, that I did not have a digital camera at that time. Before the T-maxx I had the 1:8 Kyosho Mad Force. Then I did build myself with a twin-powered (Force 25s) 1:8 Kyosho Landmax II (base) with 3-gear and lots of stash.. I do still have that one, and now the FG Marder 1:5...

A friend of mine has a T-maxx with the 3.3 engine and pretty much every inch of the chassis modded. It has turned me off of nitro racing though. I like that my car just works all the time... nitro is very tempermental, and he spends more time fixing and tuning it than driving. For that reason I went with the 1:12 slash instead of the 1:10 slayer, and I must say it is incredibly solid and fun.

Still those monster buggies of yours look like a lot more fun. The bigger engines are probably less flaky as well.

Yeah, I got tired of the nitro aswell.

The Zenoah petrol-engines are nice. Crank it up, drive till you do not want more - and stop it. You can run it like forever... And that is nice, since I am soooo tired of all that tuning and tweaking...

On the T-maxx, I went for the hottest option engine at that time - and I even bought a supercharger !!!! I did so much tuning and adjusting, that I did spend more time in my workshop than in the field...

I had a nitro traxxis rustler and while it was fun to drive I spent 3X as much time fixing it as I did driving it. Even when I didn't crash into something it needed some tuning and tweeking to get it to start or run right.

I have been considering getting an electric car. I have the chargers to support it with my airplanes and do miss racing with my buddies.

Yeah you guys seem to have all the same issues with your Nitro as my friend did. Every time we went out something new broke. That's the thing about modding... you beef up some parts, so the next weakest link in the chain takes the brunt. That's why I haven't gone into modding my car much at all, since it's a balancing act, and making parts stronger can in turn weaken the rest of the car.

Scott, consider a Slash. These things are cheap, and so much fun that they have started their own class of racing. Best of all they never break... mine has been run into brick walls at full speed by my friends. It's got all kinds of scratches and scrapes, but nothing has ever broken! It's already outlasted my first battery.

are you running a lipo and brushless in that yet Tom? Lipo isn't race legal...but they are a great deal more powerful. I get my laptop back tomorrow if Steve actually shows up this time...I'll post pics of some of the rc cars I've built and ran if it comes.

Shit when I went from the 3.3 to the 21tm in the tmaxx it tore up the stock gears in an hour so the robinson steel tranny kit alone was like 300 and then it bent the stock pinion shafts in the tranny case...another 150....fucking ridiculous. By the time I got totally bored with spending money on it I had close to 1500 into that truck...half aluminum and upgraded everything....Anyone run street cars....out of all the rc cars I've had I think my favorite and most reliable was an ntc3 with an os cvrx.18....fast...like60- 70 fast and the only weak point was the ball bracing in the hubs which were made to give way to save the hubs and shafts....I always wanted to build the schumacher fusion....80 out of the box....yee haaa

I shouldn't even think about the rc hobby these days as I've already got visions of all the shit I could do with it.....job chris....you need a job!!!!

Nope... way too expensive. A good lipo costs half as much as the car. I would have to upgrade my charger as well, and get all the various LiPO safety gear... so probably costs as much as the car to switch, if you add it all up. Brushless motor and ESC also costs as much as my car, so that's also out of the question.

I got my 19T checkpoint for considerably less, and it is really quick with a 7-cell NiMH. The stock "12T" motor in the Slash seemed to be pretty weak, fickle, and it can't be rebuilt like the checkpoint. Not much room for improvement on the rest of the car without spending huge sums of money.

true that...all you would really need is the charger and the battery...I think my 5000 3 cell was 245....but your slash would do 60!!!!! Every now and again good deals crop up on the motor and esc combos....but yeah...for what it would take you could get a vxl rustler.

Yeah, the Schumacher Fusion is the only 1:10 rc-car I could want for myself.

My Girlfriend she drives 1:10 Fuel Touring in the Norwegian Championship. I bought her 2 x Kyosho V-One RRR, one for use and one for parts...

I got friends a the track that run the v 1 and they are fucking bad ass. Nitro is a hassle till you really learn to tune the motors....I love the touring cars and the small blocks arn't so friggin finicky. I think the os 18's are really easy to start....pull start at that.

This is killing me...I so want to build another car. I like boats too but they are more expensive then the cars. I've got a feugo hull set up for brushless but that is a mint in itself.

I run lipos for my aiplanes and have had good luck with them. I would never buy a lipo that I didn't order as you can get them for 1/2 price out of china shipped. My chargers are already good-to-go for lipo so.

I never really moded my rustler much, it was really just dumb thumbs that led to the most problems. I can remember once we were jumpin off a curb and it got a little squirrely just before the lip and I went head-on into the flat part of the curb. I can remember seing the muffler continue in a straight line for another 30 ft but the car came to an immediate stop. There was more then just scratches on it.........

How much are these cars? I hear that they can get even crazier then the airplanes and that scares me.

What do you mean with "how much are theese cars"? The HPI is approx 3 feet long, and the FG is alittle shorter...

The big baha 5 or even better the all wheel drive truck go for bout 1100 without any controler. Aftermarket stuff is equally insane. Most of the guys I've talked to that run the big 1/5 scale have 2500 to 3000 into their truck...most of my 1/10th scale trucks and truggies were 400 for the car with most everything to run it...then it didn't take long to get a grand into em...go 1/8 or 1/5 as the duribility issues arnt so bad...most upgrades are performance related. Really depends on how you run em. If we were at the track I wouldn't generally bust stuff...but if we took em to the beach or off into the boonies to get squirrly with em I've ripped my t maxx in half...caught a stump that bound it up at 60 and 300 bucks later....

Ahh ok...

The Marder itself has a NIB price here locally at 2000$. And then you can just add upp the $$ with how much fun you want...

RC-toys here are quite expensive. I did pay 3500$ for the gear my GF needed for the 2008 season, plus all expensives during the season...

I do not want to tell how much my custom-made Landmax, T-Maxx and Mad Force did suck out of my pocket... I do not quite know for sure, and I guess you would not believe me anyways, hehe..

So I loved "www.towerhobbies.com" when they had Kyosho in stock, I saved ALOT of bucks dealing with US companies instead of Norwegian ones...
