So how far from the real carnage zones were you? Did you see that stuff on the side of the highway, or was your area actually reconstructed as well? It looks pretty decent there again, especially in the cathedral shot.

Well, the French quarter is what didn't get damaged, which is where I was, but if you look across the river, you still see destroyed houses, deserted parking lots, trash everywhere, all the things you'd expect to see. NO is still plenty accessible to tourists, just the ghetto got destroyed, so now it's somewhat safe to be there.

Seriously, is the French Quarter rockin' again? I've spent many forgettable conferences down there. Outstanding music and generally friendly people. They tell me I had a great time. I wanna go back.
Are accommodation rates a deal now? They were outrageous before Katrina. Just curious. Any specials to get the tourist buck back?
