1ch gone...where i dunno..lol

Post by Wink »

aight i just bought new infinity subs to temparaly replace my octanes till i get somming bigger and better, now one octane wasnt working so i thought it was the sub but turns out it isnt, one of my channels on the amp is gone, now how is that possible, and can i fix it or not.

the low down..

octane 800 watt 4 channel amp

now i have/ had my amp bridged so im presumming that its the bridged channel thats gone only.

and i tested the onther bridged channel and its fine.

now can i wire the subs any other way, or do i have to getanother amp.

make sense? :?

Yeah, use troubleshooting skills to identify the failing component or connection as Bfowler suggests.

I can't offer any bit of help except perhaps some procedures to follow during troubleshooting because I really don't know jack about amp internals.

Yeah, just flip the RCAs and see if the problem switches to the other sub. If so, it's the RCAs or the HU output or something else before the amp. If it stays the same, it's probably the amp.

Didn't you just blow your subs with that amp? My guess is your gains were cranked too high, you clipped the hell out of it, and shorted out the woofer. Shorted woofer + clipping amp = dead amp, so you may have blown that too. There are quite a few failsafes built into the amp so it may be as easy as replacing a diode... worst case you need to replace some transistors.

Troubleshooting isn't too hard though, so it's worth a shot to see if you can get it to work. Afterwards, if you open the amp up and look on the inside, it could also be reasonably obvious if anything is burnt up.

no both subs work i tested them. they're fine, cause my infinity's do the same shit. but i also turned the subs around so they both do work.

ok so i did swithch the RCA's from the front input to the rear input visa versa and yeah it does switch the subs around..so how does one fix this, check my HU? how.. :?

Switch the RCAs left to right, right to left on the amp input.
