Enclosure recomendations
Hey guys,
I need some advice here. As always you all have steered me in the right direction. So i have a few questions and ill give you the run down of where i am at w what i have.
As you know i just picked up an ext cab pick up (01 dodge dakota) this is not the quad cab but the extended.
Anyways, heres what i have so far and what id like to do.
My hu is a pioneer premier deh-p880prs (itll be in 3way active), then to a PG tld66, then to PG blk zx450 for highs and mids, a PG blk zx500 bridged for sub duty. Ill be running 1/0 ga to 4ga for power, and i have the dynamat kit on the way. Subs i have a few different options. Keep in mind my goal is to have tight clean bass. Maybe loud when i wanna show off. Heres my options i have on hand for subs.
2 mtx blk & gld 12's
2 RF rfd1212 12's
2 mtx 5k 10's
1 PG ti12
Id like to find some really good 8's and run 3 of them (mtx 7k or 8k's, or alpine type r 8's, kicker solobarics rounds or 1gen square) or maybe run 3 10's
So i wanna keep the back stealthy, and somewhat functional.
So my big 2 questions for you guys is......
Has anyone used or built down firing enclosures (face of subs like an 1"-2" off the floor or rear wall) i like the idea but i worry about canceling sound waves......
Also what effect will ports do in this application?
Please lmk what you all think and mostly what u have experienced and heard in other set ups.
Thanks

Re: Enclosure recomendations
what kinda of room is back there? the amps and subs would take up a fair amount of room
I would do the 10" smaller box tight bass and still be able to get dirty you can do a ported box for the most db out of them
what speaker will you be using?
also you post 2 of the same posts
I would sell a set of speaker and buy Drock rsdc 10 nib x 2 than the subs will match the amps and sound great

Re: Enclosure recomendations
Enough room for either a custom box or prefab. Theres plenty of room. I plan on removing the rear bench so I only lay things back there. Ill prob never have anyone sit back there.kg1961 wrote:what kinda of room is back there? the amps and subs would take up a fair amount of room

I am working on a deal to hopefully sell a set of the RF's. I have a total of 3 sets left. I was eyeballing drocks or whom ever had 3 10's they just listed. Id like to do that in a setup. Ill see what more options I have after this deal I am working.
In the mean time, I wanna see what everyones thoughts are for an ext cab set up.

Re: Enclosure recomendations
Mine are about 2" off the floor and do just fine. Just make sure the air can get out. You could give them a slight angle if you have the room

Re: Enclosure recomendations
Great Art! I was thinking if I did a down fired setup I would do an angle to "project" the waves to the front of the cabin.Weaklink wrote:Mine are about 2" off the floor and do just fine. Just make sure the air can get out. You could give them a slight angle if you have the room
Anyone else have any input?
