Pics of my last setup!

These are the pics of my last setup. Unfortunately it was stolen a few years ago and I am just now getting around to "replacing" it. I plan on doing an SQ-type setup this time and am still searching for a PG ZeroPOINT 0.5 to replace the one that was stolen. I would also take a PG zx1200.1 in it's place.\

This install consisted of

(2) 15" Eclipse Titanium 9152 in small/sealed box
(1) PG ZeroPOINT 0.5 amp (about 1200 watts)
(1) PG PLD-1 Pro Line Driver
All Polk db components (Head Unit powered)
Pioneer AVHP-6500 TouchScreen DVD player with 40Gb iPod

Are those fuses on your speaker wires? If so, what value where they?

Next time, install the PLD up front by the headunit, so that you get less noise on the signal to the rear. The Ti1200.1's are getting rare nowadays, but a Xenon 1200.1 or RSD 1200.1 would also give you just as much power, with much less current draw than the ZPA or Ti.

That must have had some serious bump in the trunk. How was the blending with the front components off of deck power? If you are going for an SQ setup this time, you absolutely need to run your front stage off of a proper external amplifier. The difference is amazing!

I don't personally know about the Xenon series, isn't that post-sale of PG to another group? Are the Xenon and RSD good quality?

Also, I had it metered (audiocontrol, not termlab) at almost 150db on music. I really need a good set of components this time, and I will definitely be powering them!

Those were used as a makeshift distribution block. I was running 10awg speaker wire and the ZPA0.5 only accepts 12awg. I just hooked it up that way temporarily, I went and bought some 12awg wire later.

So true! We literally had to shoehorn that box in as it was. I could have had a single ported, but not dual in there! It was actually pretty good for SQ with the small/sealed.

PG is still PG... the only difference between the amplifiers is that the new models are now made in South Korea, to make them competitive with every other brand that has done the same. They are still extremely overbuilt, still use the same PG circuit topology, are all designed in the US, and a bargain for what you pay for them.

The Xenon 1200.1 and RSD 1200.1 are class D instead of A/B like the Ti1200.1 and ZPA0.5, so you also get more power for far less current draw as well. You could probably run a pair of RSD 1200.1's in not much more current than your ZPA was drawing.

How much did PG pay you to say that?

Seriously, I agree fully with stipud. I have tested a Xenon X100.2, X100.4, X400.1, and X200.4. All of which were overbuilt and sonically just as good as the oldest of PG amps. I wish I could get my hands on a Rsd to give it a go around.

I have never owned a Xenon, so I base my conclusions on reviews from reputable sources like yourself, feedback from average users, and an interpretation of the parts on the amplifier.

PG (as a company) has never paid me, or even said thanks for anything, though I think Errin may have personally thanked me once upon a time.

I don't do this for PG... or even for car audio (hell I barely listen to my car stereo anymore since installing that Peerless sub at home). I do it for you guys! Group hug!!

In the manual in the install planning section the 3rd point is Install the PLD1 as close to the head unit as possible I am curious as to why you mounted it in the trunk.

Sorry eric, I if I had known you wanted to test one I had an RSD 1200.1 that I loaned to bfowler to play with. I would have loaned it to you too..but i since sold it...cuz I needed the money....was pretty decent.

However Blackwaterop, I have a Tantrum 1200.1 and an X1200.1 out of my whole 1200.1 collection that I am looking to part with cuz I need the money! hehe....otherwise i'd hold onto them.

I have a TI 1200.1 but thats not going anywhere...sold the RSD, and just have those two left.

If you are interested let me know.

I need a stereo Rsd. I don't have the power supply for a mono amp. Besides, I like to do some listening with it on my home speakers.

I honestly didn't read the manual

. I just put it next to the amp when I did the install

hehe i cant let the tantrum go for less than that...I have too much vested. But most of the time PG amps that are 1200 hit uppwards of 275-300 except the TI....
TI can hit 500-700

So true! I saw a zx1200.1ti go for a little over $400 last week. I wanted it soooo bad!

ya...that was cheap too...I was watching that one but i dont need another amp...I need a replacement sub first!
