Trying to decide on sub/subs. HELP!

Post by bassix »

Ok guys I don't have a ton of space so I'm limited on choices. I'm running a set of 6.5 Rsd's up front. I have 450w at 2ohms for the sub.

I was thinking a single 10" Rsd but I heard they need larger boxes to excel, and I have a custom made enclosure for a single 10" thats less then 1cft. So I dont think that will work out.

I'm looking at a single 10" xmax. I don't know much about them, but from the specs it looks like it will work in the space I have.

I'm also looking at 2 8" XS84's. I also don't much about these. I would have to build a new enclosure for them, So I could build whatever is best for them.

Third option is 2 of the of the older 8" tantrums. Same as above, don't know much about them, but I can build an optimal enclosure for them.

So what do you guys think? Ask me some questions if you need more info.

well, i know that the Sony XS-L10S does a pretty good job. it's a shallow mount sub...only requires .54cu ft...the 1cu ft that you have would give it prolly a flatter curve. it's rated at 330rms, but like most subs that rating's conservative...my buddy's givin his about 400 and it pounds. Pioneer also makes a sub of that type, but i dont know the specs nor have I heard one...outside of that, i sont know of too many subs that will sound "good" it less that little of space...good luck:)
what if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

Have you given any thoughts to the RSDCompetition subs? They require smaller enclosures. I'm considering two 12's to replace my current setup.

I did but I thought they required a lot more power.

only the 12. the rsd10 needs a box between .5 and .6667 CF

pretty standard for a 10

Ok well the Rsdc is out of the question, its to deep. It would basically be touching the back of the enclosure I have. So out of whats listed you guys think I should try a Rsd? Neither sets of the 8s are worth it?
