Hey guys, long time no see (since SB anyway)
got my wife a Scion tC and looking at putting an inexpensive system in, right now I have the choice of (for components)
RSD 6.5"
Rainbow 6.5" (not the top of the line obviously)
Focal 6.5" (ditto)
all for roughly the same price.
what would you guys go with? I know we all love PG, but just want it to sound pretty natural. probably going to power it with a xenon 100.4 or a zx450 or something along those lines, with the rear channels bridged to a rsd10, or an image dynamics IDQ10.
Thanks!!!
inexpensive component set
The RSD's are pretty mellow, with good impact, and blend great with subs. Focals in that price range are annoyingly bright, have trouble playing low enough to blend, and the cones can deform over time. I am however no expert with Rainbow... i've only heard them maybe once, and that is just judging by visual appearance alone (couldn't tell if they were Seas home drivers or Rainbow automotive). Either way they sounded pretty damn good.
For the sub, the RSD10 will play lower and be just as musical as the IDQV2. They sound a lot like the IDMax 10's, only I noticed a bit less of an acoustical delay (blends better up front). However, there is the new IDQV3 that I really want to try out... it looks like it would play very close to the RSD range.
