What would be best?

I just got a new deck 2 days ago. (Kenwood mp5032). And their is a sub level control. Goes up to +15. My other deck didn't have that. It was a kenwood as well, but 2 years older.

So what would be louder to the ear and better for the amp? Turning the sub level up and have the bass eq at 0 on the deck. Or have the bass eq all the way up and have the sub level at 0? Sound comp on saturday, so want to be loud as possible. thanks

Turning up the 'bass' on the head unit effects more than just the sub.
