Eclipse CD8445 Q

Post by Jacampb2 »

So, I just bought this from dcmcki, I am reading through the manual, and it says that it can only accept a memory stick of up to 128Mb. I am just wondering if anyone has tried anything larger? I will likely never use the MS feature, but thought it might be a nice feature to have for MP3's. If you can really only use a 128Mb stick, IMO that makes it fairly useless for anything other than data transfer for the e-iserve.

I don't have anything that takes memory sticks, so I can't easily test it out w/o just buying one. Just wondering if anyone has gotten it to read anything larger. If you could read a 2 or 4Gb stick, then I would quit burning MP3's to CD.

I've got the 8455 and I tried the 1G memory stick and it did not work. Yea it does seem stipud
 to use such a small read memory stick.

Yea, it's mostly for data transfer from the E-iServ web site. Steering wheel control, navigation, and a few songs. I use the music feature for recording songs from the radio.

Great HU though.

Yea, the original MS from 1998 was limited to 128Mb, but this was built in 2005, and takes the MS pro with magic gate, magic gate wasn't even around until after 2k, and the pro sticks have always been capable of a higher capacity. Theoretical maximum capacity for the pro stick is 32Gb. They currently have up to 16Gb available. In 2005 when this was made, 512mb was common, and 1Gb were somewhat affordable.

It doesn't really matter though, since someone has tried and it doesn't work. Saves me $50 or so on buying another format of flash memory...

Oh yeah, and if you still have that camera. There was a "double density" 128Mb MS. You had to physically switch a switch to put it on the second bank of flash, but it might be something to search ebay for if you still use the camera.

I used to have a sony camera too. Descent camera, first one I ever bought. I long since got rid of it though.
