Are the RSD amps any good?
Hey all just wondering people's opinions of these amps? I was going to get a xenon 600.1 to match my 200.2 but I was able to get a RSD1200.1 on ebay for 166 shipped. So did I make the wrong choice? Also just wondering will the RSD1200.1 run at 1ohm? I will probably end up running it at 4 ohm because the mag I am gonna be running is supposed to be pretty darn efficient but it would still be nice to have the option. Thanks,
We seem to have this conversation once a week........... Maybe search and there are some good bit of info and opinion.........
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

luv mine; i run 2 ti amps for highs/mids, but i run 2 rsd 1200.1s for subs, and i luv them, even one rsd 1200.1 would be ebuff, but thats just me, out of curiousity i bought a rsd 500.4 and tried it for a week , sounded great( it is , at least in their catalogue, as an a/b class amp, with the triple darlington output stage; but after listening for 2 weeks i switched my 2 tis back in and, i did notice, on same cds, some highs i didnt pick up on the rsd 500.4, i think thats where the 24db/octave xover makes a difference, and possibily the build from china??, but the rsd500.4 had a nice , warm sound, just notice slight difference on the tis,. but, for the price, new on ebay stores, any of the rsds , new out of box are a great value-jmo
Your crossover slope and being built in China has nothing to do with how much treble the amp will produce. It's really hard to actually A/B amps without setting up a bunch of relays, and having both of them running in the car, so you can switch back and forth instantaneously.
The RSDs are built much closer to the old MS series than the newer amp lines like Ti and Xenon. They are just as overbuilt, and sound just as good as any other high end PG amps. They don't have as nice of crossovers though... only 18dB/oct, so you might have phasing issues, no bandpass, and there's no LPL for the four channel amps. They seem to be EXTREMELY reliable; I don't think we've had one failure reported on the forum yet!
The amp "can" handle 1 ohm, if you drop the gains down properly, and don't push it too much. It will have gobs of headroom at 4 ohms though, so you might end up being satisfied with that.
