XVR2 or XVR4? Which is it?

Post by Audiophiliac »

I have here what I thought was an XVR2 I bought from Errin a LONG time ago and never used. It has been sitting in the box. I am selling it and took it out to get some pics and noticed that the box is tagged XVR4. I might just be wrong, but how can I tell which it is? The part # is 9000.0043. You can see the values on the caps but the inductor is what would be the deciding factor as the lowpass is designed for either a 4 or 2 ohm load. Any ideas?

Maybe someone can compare to theirs? Thanks!

I think I can measure impedance on the inductor to get a value. Then I can use a chart to figure out what frequency cut it is. If I remember right it should be a 100Hz cutoff? I will figure it out.

EDIT: Yes, that does appear to be an XVR4. Mine (XVR4)also has the 250uF caps and the coil looks identical.

Whats the serial or part number on yours? The caps are the same for both since they are part of the high pass. Its just the lowpass inductor that is different....one for a 4 ohm load and one for a 2 ohm load.

Highpass: 170Hz 6dB per octave at 4 ohms.

Subwoofer: 80Hz 12dB per octave.
