E320's Elite install

Post by E350Titanium »

It's been a while but here is my install as it sits today.

A lot of the components from my previous install "Ti EQ30, Ti 15 powercore, Ti bass cube and the Optima battery" have not been used as i wanted to save as much weight as possible.
Also the panels were made from marine ply as it is lighter than MDF.

The Ti600.2 that you see is no longer in use as it was powering another set of Ti1 tweeters in the sail panels to raise the stage height.

The Pioneer processsor "not shown" sits on the side of the sub box mounted in the spare wheel well.

The car's just clocked over 310,000 km's but still goes well.

It's my sound lounge on wheels. :P

That's a sick install...

Couple of questions for you (maybe I can steal some ideas)...

1. What are you running the two 1000.2s to? Are they per channel to the TI12?
2. What's the 1200.1 for if the 1000.2s are power the sub?
3. How the hell were you able to mount that big ass TI12 facing up? I don't have nearly as much room in my trunk to mount it like that.
4. How did you mount the TI9s in the door like that (I'm not sure yet because I haven't gotten them yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have a bunch of problems mounting them in the doors when I do get them)? Did you seal them, or are they running open air?

Actually the boot is very usable. I can still fit about 8 cartons beer in there. The top picture is with the panels in place hiding all the gear.

The Ti1200.1 power's the Ti12d.

I'm using one Ti1000.2 per side to power the Elite 5 and tweeter in the kick's through the passive cross over and the other channel is powering the 9" in the doors.
So basically the left hand side Ti1000.2 power's the left hand side speaker's and the right hand side Ti1000.2 power's the right side speaker's.

The Sub box is sitting in the spare wheel well. It was the only way we could mount the sub and have a flat floor to work with. The base panel with the amps mounted just happened to be be at the right height so everything came up level.

The 9's the doors are not in sealed enclosures. No room. However the doors themselves have been sealed and deadened as much as possible.
Had to do a bit of cutting of the doors to get the 9's mounted but it was worth it in the end.

Oh wow. Your false floor is so clean I didn't even realize it was false! From the looks of it you're not using generic sub box carpet for it, which is always the most obvious clue.

Good show!

how do the TI9s sound in free air? I'll try to seal them, but don't know if I'll have any room either. How did you deaden the doors, any tips?

Any particular reason why you used 2 TI1000.2s instead of 2 TI500.4s? You could have probably saved some room with those and some money, unless you got a deal on the 1000s.

I just thought about this...

IDK how willing you are to change stuff around, or just love it as it is, but if you sold your TI1200 and bought two TI500.4s, you can wire each 1000.2 bridged per VC to the TI12D and wire the TI500s (bridged) the same as you have the TI100s now and put the TI500s side by side where you have the TI1200.

You can then also have the option of running your TI5s active with one 500 and bridge the other 500 to run your TI9s at the 250x2.

Just a thought.

EDIT - oh yeah... then the best part, 2000 watts on ur TI12, which would be really nice.

The 9's sound pretty good as they are right now. Im sure though they would sound even better in a sealed enclosure.
When I have people listen to the system I always have the sub off first.
I have one of the memory settings with the sub off and the 9's rolling off naturally. So just the 3 way playing.
They are amazed at the amount of bass and clarity.

When I switch presets and put the sub on they are just blown away.
The look on their faces is magic.
The front speakers are time aligned so the sub sounds as if it coming from the front. In fact I couldn't believe just how easy it was to do.
I guess having 9" mid bass crossed at 50hz helps big time.

The way the system is set up at the moment will stay as is.
It was over 5 years ago when I bought most of the gear and cost me a bomb.

It was actually recommended to me by "Tad" from the original PG forum who was working for PG at the time.

The only new piece is the Pioneer P90 combo which I bought 3 yeras ago.
Fantastic piece of kit. Very easy to use and all processing is done from the drivers seat. Only thing I don't like about it is its display.
Cant see anything in certain angles in sun light.

I think from memory the doors were covered with a product called "sound off" which is a black stick on deadener. Similar to dynamat.
The only other thing was the Focal plain chant behind the speaker but this was already there form a previous install.

When im finished with this system in the car I have plans to have it set up in my home office. Not going to sell any of it.
Its too good to do that.

Nice setup. I'm essentially going to run the same setup in my blazer but twice the equipment. I might do 3 Ti12s and Ti1200s as I'm glassing it all in and don't want to do it again if I need more bass. I'm going to run my Ti9s free air as well at the same power and I’m glad to know that the handle it well especially at 50hz! The P9 is awesome! Those presets make all the difference.
