Re: Feeding a Beast
15-20hp doesn't sound like much when compared to 315hp, but do the math. 15hp at 700rpm (idling) equals 150Nm of torque, so you're lucky to have a big V8. A normal 2 litre engine would stall. And I'm willing to bet that alternator belt slip is a big issue here too. 15hp at 2100rpm (cruising) equals ...

Re: Is a ZPA amp with TBAT input noticeably better than ZX25
Ok. I know of a guy here comparing an XS2300 with some McIntosh and Audison amp and being blown away by the great midbass and powerful sound he got with the XS.

Re: Is a ZPA amp with TBAT input noticeably better than ZX25
I agree 100% here. I've A/B'd an M44 vs. Ti500.4 and haven't noticed much of a difference if any, Ti500.4 vs. RSd 500.4 and didn't notice any difference, and XS2300 and Xenon X200.4 and noticed a clear difference. The first two comparisons have roughly the same power outputs where the Xenon over do...

Re: ZX450 left channel issue
It has happened to me too. When a pot hasn't been touched for years it can cause a channel to cut out or fade. Turn the pots back and forth a few times.
If all else fails you can just use the rear channels of the amplifier.

Re: ZX450 left channel issue
This troubles me. I'm not sure how the bias and DC offset adjustments can have HUGE effects on power and dynamics. I know they affect distortion levels at low volumes. Are we talking high end hifi terms here? I have a ZX450 but I don't use it. I prefer M50 for my comps and MS275 for subwoofer becaus...
Re: zx350
Methinks the value would test higher if the test voltage were higher ie. closer to cap nominal 50V.
But I don't know what voltage the fluke meter uses.

Re: Anyone try the sl slim line of subs from pg
Thanks! The GTI is my precious. Even with a sagging spider it totally rocks with just (MS-) 275Watts! No one believes me when I say my sub amp is 2x75Watts.
Oh and apologies for hijacking this thread.

Re: Anyone try the sl slim line of subs from pg
Forgive me for raving about old school JBL subs, but a JBL 1200GTI is shallow in addition to being bad-ass and sounding wicked. 4,25" is not bad for a 12 inch sub which wasn't made with shallow mounting depth as a priority.
I just wish they still made the reconing kits!

Re: How good are your high dollar rca's?? YALL GOTTA WATCH T
A video like this is no proof of anything. How do we know they didn't readjust the amp gain between takes? And notice how the rca plugs of the last cable are nowhere near the neon lights whereas the other cables' plugs get moved around almost on top of the lights. I have basic generic triple shielde...

Re: SO ... What's the real "power" coming from the MS2125?
It will do 500+ watts RMS all day long bridged @4ohm and sound very respectable doing it. With some extra cooling and proper electrical supply you can go bridgeg @2ohm and get 1kW peaks. These amps need to be serviced before installing them. The power supply caps leak if they haven't been replaced y...

Re: What subs to go w/ old M50?
I second that idea about using a JBL 1200GTI sub. Very efficient and good sounding old school sub! Only problem is finding them, especially in good condition. I have one in my car in a 1 3/4 cu ft ported box with a MS-275 feeding it. It sounds totally awesome with rock and heavy metal. Gets stupid l...

Re: What subs to go w/ old M50?
Another thing to consider. These are wonderful sounding, beautifully made legendary old school amps and they require a little bit of extra care compared to new amps. Many old PG amps including M-series have leaky power supply caps. If you don't have them changed you run the risk of the amps setting ...

MS-275 fan connector
Any idea why there is a fan connector on the inside of the amp? A bit pointless really. Anyway, it's a bit difficult but I'm gonna use it. I left one of the bottom cover screws out and put a thin wire through the hole. My only concern is that the wire insulation might break. I used thin coaxial wire...

Re: Can MS-250 run stable at 2 ohm bridged?
That switch is more like a band aid. It lowers the amps rail voltage so the amp makes less power and heat. As long as you take care of cooling and install proper wiring the amp will be good. Another thing. If that 2 ohm is a subwoofer in a sealed box then there will most likely be no problem at all....

Re: Can MS-250 run stable at 2 ohm bridged?
MS amps can handle low ohm loads for sure but they get very hot doing it. So install a fan to cool your amp if it gets hot to touch and it won't disappoint you.
Re: wire
Hard to say without seeing the terminals. If the terminals have screws at the back, you can fit lugs on the wires and stack several lugs under one nut.
Volts are irrelevant in car audio really. Were talking amperes here.

Re: wire
Whatever its called its still 12 gauge. Its worth it using adequate wire and proper installation accessories. It makes you feel better, you sleep better at night and it just might help you avoid annoying problems with your car stereo. If we're talking something like Elite.1 at 1ohm then thats like 6...

Re: Food for thought
The reason I posted a picture of this is to remind myself of the importance of cooling. That electric heater dissipates 580W of power and its temp is 50C which is quite uncomfortable to touch. It is in a cool basement room with unobstructed airflow around it plus it has many times the cooling surfac...

Re: What is triple darlington, and why is it advantageous?
I think PG did a pretty good job designing their triple darlington amp circuits. Making the most of its benefits and avoiding pitfalls. PG has always made a big deal about using the fastest devices available, which helps minimizing delay and phase shift at high frequencies.

Re: What is triple darlington, and why is it advantageous?
Darlington refers to the type of amplifier circuit used. With three stages the theoretical current gain of the amp circuit is increased to the power of three. This makes it better suited for driving large currents with low distortion. And we know how good PG amps sound even when loaded down with low...
