Phoenix Gold Tantrum Amplifiers

Post by Shinju »

Looking for folks who have had hands on experience with these.

I have a chance to get 3 of them 2 4 channels and a 2 channel for a pretty good trade deal.

How are these compaired to the other PG amplifiers ect ect.

Pro's and Con's please :)

thanks!

I've got 4 currently (1200.1, 2x 600.4, 300.2) and organized 3 for a mate...

They are a solid amplifier, underrated... My mono is birthed at 1418wrms @4ohm...
Powerful too, and haven't had any issues at all, and barely run warm..

I'd get more if I could get my hands on them!

Only thing I have agenst the 1200's are the Tripath chip and thats only due to them not being made anymore if that goes out the amp is gone.

I had 6 new in box Crystal Moble Sound CAD 600.2T amps that ran the T-Path chip, STRONG amps.

Besides the 1200.1 would be way to much for 2 Cyclones :)

The LE amps are something that after enough of a search will just seem to suddenly fall in yer lap. I think the search is part of the fun that makes them worth so much to idiots like us. I can't tell you all the strange looks I have got from people when I tell them the amp I am using is a collectors item and was made in limited production, people just do not understand.

Like them they are a great middle of the road pg amp. Some don't like the xover and the unit with out the end cap don't look all that good IMO. vs other pg amps. They sound great had a 1200.1,600.4 400.4 and a 300.2 they always did what i needed. If you like the bling thing you can also buy neons the mount under them. I like them more than say a rsd but alot less than a ti.
They are getting old and never sell all that much on ebay?
I had have problem with my friends 600.4 with a dead channel. I have not had time to really look into it

I ended up getting them and sold one of the 400.4's instantly to a friend.

I think I am going to flip these and find a nice 5/6 channel I really dont want to wire 3-4 amps to be honest lol I r lazy anymore!

I have a 400.4 and a 500.2 going to sell my M44 and M25 aswell :)
