HEY GUYS 1st Artwork App

Post by mhyde71 »

FINALLY GOT THE SPECIAL LASER PRINTER I NEEDED to run artwork back up onto these restored/refinished amps I think guys!!!

this is my very first trial and shit-
BUT WHOLLY SHIT GUS, GET OUT THE WAY OF THE BUS!!
It came out really looking great!

QUESTION WILL BE TOMORROW- how it fairs in the cure cycle after shooting clear coat over it now! will see tomorrow in shop! (first thing)- but was told BY MFG of the gear that it would endure just fine, as they have other clients that do similar process/es as mine... i.e. ceramics and other decorative finishing that requires heat in some capacity.
If any trouble maybe tweak the cure schedule, i.e. lower temp and longer time in oven type stuff-

BUT if all works out well in oven- i think we'll be golden-rod guys for getting artwork back onto the amps once re-stored or coated/painted...!

more samples coming in short bit

I took blank grey end plate, and made this ms275 end plate

just "whooped-up" this plexi just now

not sure i am feeling it on the plexi stuff... the clear plexi allows for visual of any inconsistencies real easy... whereas on colored background- if any trouble or issues they are not visible

no---for quick short and in brief description... it's an at home sublimation type of process...

(shhhh) secrets and promises given by myself to NATO do not permit me to discuss in an open forum-

(ARTWORK doesnt even have to be vector format in fact)- Simply scan end-plate on scanner of unit, push through the process/software, print and apply...!

so long as we have the scan available or whatever; like if you can see it on the screen and looks good- we hit print and run with the ball (IOW it can be printed/applied onto amp).

yeah man really excited! looks great in person too- pics do it no justice guys!

i will be totally bummed out if it doesnt make it through the oven though!
but was assured it "should" be okay- we'll see i guess...

4am gots to go to bed!

Could this be used to print something like the cross over and gain settings on the end plates as well, or is that too small for it? I guess I am asking what the capabilities of this printer are? How small is too small?

Great job BTW figuring this out! Even if you can't do super small writing, you can at least but the bigger stuff like the sample you got. This is a really cool thing you discovered. If this works out, the possibilities are endless :D

not a problem... it would be easier on the m-series gear, b/c of the MS-Gear end plates and all their fricken holes... BUT could be done regardless... just that the end plates would require a number of applications, as the holes would get in the way (same with the zx gear too I think) the small labeling and stuff for left right, + / - / Rem, etc etc NO SWEAT just would be more work on the zx and ms gear than the M gear and perhaps some others as well... but all can be done...

thanx mang!
yeah i am kinda pumped- slept in late- will be going to shop to run one through the oven here shortly!

maybe looks like we'll get the 500 of yours back looking real nice and decent OEM looking again!

dood you the possibilities are endless...

for example... custom artwork or text- to
Billy loves susan in the corner- OR perhaps "To Susan from Billy" and small lil pg logo under it or on side- with all the labeling of course or whatever- I mean the sky"s the limit!

prolly could even take snap shot of your car your putting the gear in, print photo of car onto the transfer sheet, and apply it to the cover of an m100 or something

IF YOU CAN SEE IT ON THE SCREEN- it can be printed and applied- thats what neat about all this here....

TOM!... I'm only doing it for you- you should know that, silly!

seriously though... YES, trying to make it happen!

I in fact got laid off last week and now this is going to be primary source of income

BUT good news about getting laid off is, that NOW i will have more time in shop and with a good solid week or two of working and shit at shop- 10+ hours a day-

i should be able to get everyone caught up and out the door within two weeks!

Hopefully once the work i have now is gone i will get more- from forum(s)/internet, and locally just the same...

so guys keep the work coming!!!- i am working full time at it now in shop- and really want to make a serious effort about making this a viable endeavor.... or i will have to go look for job- and thats a job in itself... BUT we're good right now... 6-8 amp jobs sitting in the storage room, with the three, maybe even four, decently sized local jobs as well.

just delivered the cabinet i finished off monday of this week... (see pic's in shop pics thread) but that was a real good paying job... so work is there- just need to and hope that it continues to come in...

going to shop to throw clear on the license plate and cure...

gotta get down there, as the one guy working for me is there alone and he likes to dick around!
i'll cut that shit out real quick though if that/he doesnt straighten up!

not sure about this guys?!

ink looks like it is bubbling up a lil bit perhaps

in oven at 100degrees lower that prescribed temp too!

but only the first, and looks like it might be where bare fingers touched it...

normal practice would dictate using gloves from after sand-blasting- to handing to customer- and in which case I did not follow with the sample piece - I.e. when applying artwork- so perhaps wearing gloves as I should be, will not cause the bubling ....

only the first attempt/run, not too too concerned as of yet...

in fact after typing this on cell, checked again and still only those two spots - where it is entirely possible that it was finger touches...

well I might have to retract that feeling of disapointment!!

think were gonna be okay

its not happening anywhere else, so that tells me that if its good everywhere else- there possible is/was merely an incident of contamination...

almost done, maybe even give two coats of clear- duhno well see
