Ti500.4 vs Zx450v2

Post by knightrider358 »

Hey guys,

Thought id post a pic of these 2 side by side. To see what yall have say opinion wise. I know its prob been said before but id thought id post the pic and give my thoughts.

So looks like theres two main diff in these amps.

The crossovers are different and the power cap bank seems beefer in the Zx450 than the ti500.4

Image

I know people have said theres more headroom in the zx than the ti. But the ti is more refined.

So can anyone explain why and what makes the difference in the two.

Im gonna have prob gonna have the ti500.4 and ti600.2 in my dd for sq and the zx450 and ti400.2 in my other non dd.

Btw i know the Zx450v2 is sexy as hell cause its in blk.

Also this is the most pg amps ive ever had.

Image

Im so stoked about these projects!!!!!!

Anyways can everyone give me the whys and whats about the diff between the the Zx450v2 and ti500.4. Espically the crossover side.

As far a crossovers I think the only big differences is the ability to bi amp. By this I mean to be able to band pass the rear channels on the ti. The zx can do the x10 but is a high pass on the rears. Now of you run a high pass signal in you could low pass the rear channels and do the same thing. For the extra ti upgrades check out the zxti tech in the how to section. http://download.phoenixphorum.com/Manua ... titech.pdf . Hope this helps. I'm going with the zxti 475 and 600 in my car over the reactor zx450 and 500.

Awww thanks art, i really understand the diff now.

Hey would u know why the original manuals say the ti some of the ti line like the 500.4 & 600.2 can accept up to 15v input but the knobs on the amps actually say 6v

To be honest I never really understood the numbers on the gain controls. I just set them where they sound good or use my o-scope. It's usually a made up type of number like where the kicker bass knobs go to 11 because it's more than 10.

The input voltage range 10,5 to 15V refers to the power input voltage, not signal.

The ZX450 can do a bandpass on the rear outputs. It can be set for either midrange, or midbass, depending on the position of the X10 switch for the front crossover.

Ti amps are a more reliable design.

Ti amps have more headroom (at least the ones I measured did).

check the one channel shown for clarity diagram....for sure you can give the rear speakers a bandpasssignal !!!!!!!!!!!!

highpass used on the front speakeroutput, bandpass on the rear speaker output and highpass on the aux rca output to

another amplifier......

the most bad thing about the zx amps are the green quad pots who can cause alot of troubles....

(like blowing speakers :( :( :( :( :( :( :( yes, been there, done that)

so if you try out another zx amp, one good advice, use 20dollars speakers for some time before you connect you're

expensive (old skool) speakers......................

We'll look at that. Better research is needed on my part next time  . I guess it's a toss up then. Hard to go wrong either way.

Saw this,& had to post~ I LUV ZX series, as they were my first PG amps, (450&350), but no MATTER what amp I try and swap out for highs/mids, I find myself going back to my 500.4 Ti, off a deh 80 PRS, & ti elite 6.5s, sounds the best to me~
