I think the slight angle is smart. It will help avoid the dreaded drill grind that people tend to do with amps like M and MS and plenty of others when mounting them without thinking.Eric D wrote:I'm confused...
Is that endplate on the amp set up so you have to put your mounting screws in on an angle?

This one was done in solidworks. Its simply a screen capture of the actual mechanical file. The are no pretty rendering or touch ups done to it.joyride wrote:Yup, Def has the constraints/anti aliasing properties of Solidworks. There are no obvious signs of Rhino/3D studio. Im a bit surprised by ProE though. That could be mocked up (design wise) completely in Solidworks. Im thinking the ProE came in later for the tooling side of things. Any idea what PG used to use compared to now? ProE isnt cheap...
Morgan, Im assuming they actually render these (even in photo works). Any chance we could get some of those rather than just the surfacing?
PG has used combination of Inventor, Solidworks and Autocad in the past for designs.

okay i finally can see this now. this is a nice start but my only pet peeve would be as an installer and fabricator i never cared for uneven height on amps...
the pic looks as if the right side of amp is taller and it tapers to the left.
i guess i say even is better, even if it is liek the ms or the zx style its a mirror image from center going outwards. i think thats what killed alotof the apeal of the sd amps...
the awkward angled corners.
well its food for thought and i can w8 to see more pics.
also the tri led thing is cool cause if the newer amps come witht hat then it will match the 5 year old elilte sub...lol
You may have subs in your car........but my doors sound better!
very very nice i can't wait
so does pg need some guys from the cold canadain to try some of these amp out if so im in..... i would love to have some of these new ones and sub/mids/tweeter to try i will pay for it just the chance to try it before it sold to the public would be great. i would like to try ANYTHING LIKE THE TI OR HIGHER
my car is a 2008 acura tl i was going to put the le focal but my love for pg .... let me know

I like the phase plug in the low end line, but I'm curious to know will it be removable and able to put the tweet in as a coax set up?
I also like the idea of angled screw mounts. Aiming inward will result in a better "grip" holding the amp to the rack, the only real issue I see is that it will be a real PITA to mount two amps side by side against each other.
Smallest 4 ch amp 100 x 4
nice. Will the mono 1500 watt amp be 1500 wrms x1 @ 2 ohms?
Any plans for a 2000 wrms x 1 @ 2 ohms amps?????
That's what I need and I'm waiting specifically for a PG release to get a new amp.
I'm after SQ w/some UMPH so it HAS to deliver.

Entry line component will not be convertible.
Mounting two amps side by side you will need to leave a little space. Its fairly painless. These are pretty long amps, I don't expect too many to go side by side.
All monoblocks in upper end line make full power into 1 ohm. Still make good power into 2 ohm, but they really want to see 1 ohm load.

I vote for allen head terminals......4 gauge or larger for + and -
8 gauge terminals for speaker terminals.
and a 10x multiplier
Any ideas on pricing, how big of a price tag difference is to be expected between the current line and the new one ?
Also what kind of pricing is to be expected between the lower end stuff and the upper end stuff ?
Is there a definitive answer on a LE amp/s, if so what kind of price range could be expected for those ?
Will the upper end comps have neodymium magnets ?
Will the x-over's match the amps ?
Is there plans for building a 30/15 band EQ for the new line ?

Appearance wise, or are you saying it has a smooth look like the Ti amps did ? You mentioned they were long.......

What's the largest 4 channelSmallest 4 channel is 100x4
Similar to original Ti amplifiers, what exactly does that mean ?Cosmetic is clean but classy similar to original Ti amplifiers.

How much of an angle are the mounting screws at?
I mount ALL of my amps with machine screws and T-nuts. With these on an angle it sounds like my method won't work and I would have to use crappy drywall screws which are not all that secure.

Eric,
I use hex head wood screws to mount my amps. The heads don't break like those of drywalls. Also note that the angle will help, in a sense, clamp into the wood. You'll have two on one side digging in like so-> \ and the other two on the other side like so -> /.
\amp/
See how the angles go inward? I'm not sure if you, or anyone, is understanding what I mean.

Using your method might or might not be a little complicated, the T-nut probably will need a little angle on it.

Don't worry there are three "affordable" monoblocks that will make 500 watts into 2 ohm that have LPL. One is class a/b, one is class d and one class d that is really small.Bfowler wrote:MW3 wrote: All monoblocks in upper end line make full power into 1 ohm. Upper end amps still make good power at 2 ohm, but you should run them at 1 ohm to get max power out of the amp.
There are no two channels, before you scream sacrilegious. Two channels sales are non-existent. Also, you can bridge a 4 channel into a larger 2 channel amp.

These amps are not small in size or power. Smallest mono block in this series is 1500 watts, smallest four channel is 100 x 4.

So far the features and model lines seems like wise choices and sound product management. Good job, Morgan.
I still want to know just enough about the audio circuitry design and component quality/tolerances to be dangerous in judging the amps. I know I'll probably have to wait until after launch, but it's all good. These questions WILL get answered in time once someone knowledgeable cracks the amps open and takes a peek at the guts.
